I'm just a plain gal...

Beer:  MGD and Boulevard Wheat Beer

Wine:  What a shock, not much of a wine drinker.  I would rather relax sipping on some Gentleman Jack.

Light Drinking:  Love a great Margarita - on the rocks, an occassional fruity rum drink

Serious Drinking:  I'm a Jack and Diet Coke kinda girl.

Cheers......Laurie

I don't drink now, but my favorite drink used to be long island iced tea.  I used to drink Zima also, an effervescent vodka drink that came in a silver and blue bottle.. ::)

Let's see. For beer it would be Fat Tire.  I like pretty much most wines.  I likes several mixed drinks.  Smith and Wesson (Vodka, Kahlua, Cream, Coke), Zombie (Rum, Creme de Noyeax, Triple Sec, Sour Mix, Orange Juice, Rum 151), Captain and Coke, Jack and Coke, Lynchburg Lemonade, B-52 (Kahlua, Baileys, Grand Marnier Layered), Top Shelf Margaritas, and a lot of other drinks I don't make/order as often as the ones I just listed.  Sorry, I learned a lot of these in bartending school. ;D

My drink of choice.... not beer... I do enjoy pretty much all top shelf and imported beers but they give me a huge headache worse than a hangover before Im even drunk....

As for liquer.....  prefer Liquer.....  therefore I should avoid it at all costs and never step foot into a bar again....

Beer- Blue Moon draft with a slice of orange (delicious and smooth)
Mixed- double rum and diet coke, jack and coke

Also, I will try anything and drink any type of shots.  Will drink any type of wine.

The funny thing is, I NEVER get a hangover and NEVER get sick.  I don't know if has something to do with my metabolism, but I haven't done either in 30 years.  I used to in my college days, but for some reason, I can mix and match drinks (and often do) and never have a bad reaction or hangover.

Beer: Okanagan Pale Ale and a number of cottage breweries. Also draught bitter or black and tan.

Wine: Merlot, Pinot Noir. Wolf Blass and Yellowtail.

Hard stuff: scotch. Fond of Cardhu. Wouldn't say no to Glenfiddich or Glenlivet.

Mixed: What? Dilute scotch? I don't think so.

Beer: Hate it

Wine:  Haven't had much but I like blush wines

Liquor:  Never drink it straight

Mixed drink:  Long Island Iced Tea, Rum and coke made with Appleton rum, screwdriver made with Vox vodka.

I don't have that much drinking experience.

Beer is such a manly drink I avoid it in public. However, Amber bock is what I drink when I do.

Wine is my public drink of choice white or red depending on my meal. I do prefer a Johannesburg reisling if its available.

Hard drinks a swig of Jack followed by a swig of coke, or Drambuie, in a lighter mode I drink white or black Russians depends on the company.

Mixed drinks Captains Coke or a Colada of sorts.

My choices:

Beer: Guinness (Draught or Dark Malt), I can usually take just one.
2nd Beer: Bacardi Silver (flavored or not flavored), I can take up to two.

Wine: Arbor Mist (any flavor), 15 oz, maximum.

Liquor: Bacardi 151 + Mountain Dew (very light mix of the Bacardi), 4 oz, maximum.

My limits are very low, and I get completely wasted with these amounts.  Jack Daniels doesn't like me, but then again most forms of alcohol don't like me.  These three are the only ones that really agree with me (ie, they don't make me sick).

I normally do too, but I found lesbian bars are a great place to drink them in. :)  Actually, the last time I had beer at a lesbian bar was Leigh's memorial service. :(

Hey everyone,

It's funny how alcohol perverts our language. When talking about anything but alcohol, tastes good means that something has a pleasing taste. With alcohol Good = I can swallow without gagging.

I don't drink that often but when I do I have to drink really sweet stuff that is not so hard to choke down. Beer, wine and spirits taste so nasty I really don't see how anyone drinks them, no matter what you squeeze into them or mix with them, however I can choke down strawberry margaritas or daqueries if they don't have to much alcohol mixed in. I have heard that for some people alcohol tastes extremely bitter. I must be one of those people.

Love always,
Elizabeth

All of them?  Heck no.  I've only done bartending professionally for a few jobs--my most recent this past July after I was fulltime ;D--so I don't have all recipes memorized.  I just look them up if I don't remember the recipe.

Dennis I had to crack up.... we are the only two I believe that are into the single malt scotches.

Liquor:  Courvoisier VS ,  Balvenie Portwood 21 yr , Henessey, Grey Goose, Jack Single Barrel
Mixed:  Jack and Coke, Margarita ( depending where I am)
Beer:  Hienekin, Coors, Miller Draft Gold ( I seldom drink beer unless outdoors camping )
Wines: I seriously collect wines...favorites r,  Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon... Shelton Vinyards 2002 Sangiovese, Valle Escondido Otono 2003, and the list could seriously go on.
Liqueurs : Ammerito
Shots:  Jack, Balvenie portwood, and other single malts 18 yrs and over, under 18 I honestly do not like.  Oh and don't forget the cigar/pipe to boot on a crisp fall sunday afternoon of reading.

Peace

I opened this thread expecting to find that we all had our own drink named after us. :D

Personally, I like almost everything I've tried, which isn't much... margaritas are probably my favorite, but honorable mention goes to anisette. Tequila on the rocks is also good; the ice melts and carries the flavor but dilutes the sharpness.

I dislike beer though.

Tequila and I don't get along thanks to a misadventure over 20 years ago. I remain convinced that tequila is just liquor that someone's poured kerosene into. I took a tour of a tequila factory in Mexico once and nearly got pushed into a demonstration cactus when I asked what phase they added the kerosene.

I can just manage to sip a little now, but even the smell sets my stomach off on a train of unpleasant memories.

There are some liquors I just can't stand.  I mean the vapors themselves make me want to vomit.  Like I could not drink Brandy or Maker's Mark Whiskey.  Both just set my stomach off.  Rum is probably my favorite base liquor, but then I guess a lot of girls like rum.

Ricki,

Yep it is french and I absolutely love relaxing with it. I came up with the idea that with drinking invest in what you really like and enjoy it sparingly. I am by far not a big drinker seldom feeling real effects, but enjoy the taste and the aroma of something that is pleasing to my senses. If I drank a lot I could not afford what it is that I enjoy so what would be the point lol. Of course I packed a bottle of Jack for my weekend escape into the forrest with the wife for the next few days lol.

Peace

Laurie my sister drinks all "diet" sodas and she is convinced that the apsartime and diet sweeteners are causing her memory loss? hehe..
I did not bother to look for some report citing that chemical sweeteners cause memory loss, I remember talking to her one night and she was like seriously i am forgetting things, I said well that's old age-stress-your idiot hsuband- i said that twice YOUR IDIOT HUSBAND!-your crazy kids-you doing too much-, she said no no.. I said well heck if its a big issue stop drinking the darn diet soda??? Geeze!!!!!!!!!
Taylor you have style no matter what anyone ever says!
I agree completely about the quality aspect if you are going to drink-drink well?
I digress.. and also agree with the jack theory!  I have bottom shelf stuff for that time where quality is not the issue just fogging your brain to get the day out of your head!  For better evenings or weekends where its just a drink or two then better stuff accounts!
I am not much of a whiskey drinker had a bad episode over two decades ago in high school that had me in bed for three days never could deal with it after that!
Thanks

Beer:  Corona with a lime, NewCastle Ale, Sapporo

Liquor:  Crown Royal, Wisers, GOOD vodkas (Oklahoma's only distillery makes a FANTASTIC vodka),  Jose Cuervo, Cuervo 1800, Mezcal (haven't made it to the worm yet)

Mixed: Whiskey and coke, Bloody Mary, Margaritas

Liqueurs: None unless they are used in a cocktail like an appletini

Shots:  Occasional tequila shot with salt and lime..other than I'm too much of wimp.  (rattlesnakes are good)

Wine:  Occasional chardonney (I like YellowTail), Pinot Noirs and Merlots for reds from a good vintage.  Since any vineyard can produce a great wine one year and a bad the next I am not really brand specific.

Yes, Cindi...I know what is in that stuff, but I prefer to think of it as building up a tolerance to all those harmful chemicals.  Those of you who haven't been building up will go into shock the first time somebody slips you some sugar free cookies or candy.  And yes, sometimes my montly diet coke bill is the same as my mortgage...wonder if I could build a house from the empties???

OMG...It just hit me Cindi...you drink Diet Coke??? It has caffeine.  No wonder the Mormons are mad at you.  You know that nothing ticks them off faster than somebody hyped up on caffeine.

And, for the record, I refuse to believe that you can be a "very nasty person" when you "get the urge to purge".  Tell you what, the next time you unhook the diet coke IV, let us know.  If you turn into the Wicked Witch of the West, I'll be the first to tell you  :o  Until then, you are a sweetheart and always have been.

I drink wine and beer in moderation.  Wine is more feminine.  Generally I fix dinner on Fridays--I get home from work, change into a skirt and put on makeup, and fix dinner for my wife and me; we share a bottle of wine with dinner and finish it off while watching a movie.  White zin and a chick flick go well together. :D

Hmm, which provocative drink? ;)  SOTB perhaps?  I haven't watched that movie in a long time, so I don't know which of the hundreds of provocative drinks you are referring to.

I have slipped back to mostly wines.  I poured a bunch of my hard liquor down the toilet a couple days ago because I kind of got tired of drinking that stuff.  I only saved about 4 bottles of stuff that was really expensive or I drank recently.  It seems with age, my desire to drink lessens.

P.S.  I've talked to a number of other bartenders and they normally hate any reference to the movie Cocktail or Tom Cruise.  That's like really offensive swear words to them. ;)

You could also try fruitier wines such as those from Arbor Mist since they tend to be closer to wine coolers in strength.

I didn't drink at all until my mid twenties, but by 1984 it had become such a problem, life-style and health wise, that I stopped cold.  Very rarely I have wine for special occassions (perhaps twice a year).  Back in the days it was mostly either beer or bourbon and coke.

Beer:  NOT a standard american brand (ewwwww...)  Guinness in the can is my Bud/MGD/whatever.  Stone Brewing Arrogant Bastard Ale when I can get it (google it and read the label for fun!), or some other creative brew of malt, hops, water and yeast.

Wine:  Red.  Right now I'm doing Merlot/Shiraz/Syrah.  The bottle has to have a creative label.  I favor Australian versions because of the Monty Python Australian Table Wines bit.

Liquer:  They all have 'way too much sugar in them, or I treat them as such to stay out of trouble.

Distilled:  Everclear 195.  32ml (1 oz of ethanol exactly, accounting for the teensy bit of water,) added to a 22 oz or larger bottle of diet beverage.  Drink slowly.  Or sometimes add it to a big slushy made with sugar-free fruit syrup.

Most important rule!  Any/all of the above are to be consumed strictly in moderation!  The Air Force has it right when they counsel no more than 1 oz of ethanol (any way you can reach it) per hour, and no more than 3 oz in any given day.  And you are STILL considered impaired if you have even 1/2 oz within the last two hours.

MODERATION!

Hmm, don't drink much anymore since my body might have an aversion to it, however:

Beer: Anything Unibroue. It's an import from Montreal. Dear rock is it good :) A bit heavy, a bit strong (*cough*10%*cough*) but nice and smooth for a dark ale. They reccomend champagne glasses for it... I don't have any.

Wine: The ONLY wine I've ever liked is called "Homard". It comes in a lobster-shaped bottle, and is a white merlot. If you hate wine, try this one, you might like it. If you like wine... you probably don't want this.

Hard Liquor - reeeeeally hates me. If I'm hard pressed and have to have A mixed drink... I'll take a Gin and Tonic. If it were easier to obtain, Absynth is also nice (and no, it doesn't make you 'trip', that's a hoax that's been debunked by everyone but the FDA).

Nowadays though, the hardest stuff I'll drink is Tab Energy Drink, and one at that.
