Title: T therapy and the older trans guy
Post by: Olly on January 27, 2010, 12:50:25 PM
I don't expect to get the same results as younger trans guys but what can I expect now I'm hitting 40? How masculine will my face look and how masculine will my voice sound?

I started T when I was 47 and I'm about to turn 49.  Pre-T I was very feminine.  Nobody thinks I'm anything other than male now.  What helped I believe, was having my hysto first thing (medically necessary and covered!  I had just been putting it off until I had a reason to get the parts yanked!)

Really? This gives me hope. I started T April of last year, so about 9 months give or take. And even though my T levels are fine, my voice has dropped, enough facial hair I could probably grow a full beard if I wanted, and all the other changes, I still get maamed more than not. I think it's my face. It was super feminine pre-T. I'm trying hard not to panic but it seems like all the changes have already taken place.

9 months is still pretty early, Nero. I think it took 4 years or so for most of the changes to my face. Haven't noticed much new (except the painfully slowly increasing facial hair) in the last couple of years. I wouldn't describe myself as feminine looking before, but I did look like a kid for the first couple of years.

And for the OP, I was 42 when I started. Genetics, I think, made it slow for me. All of my male relatives looked ridiculously young until they were in their 30's.

Now nobody thinks anything but male looking at my face. Voice-wise, I'm a bass-baritone.

I'm 35, and I have been on T for 5 and half months. My voice is pretty deep, I'm very happy with it, and other changes are getting there. I'm passing on the phone, but only about 50% out in public (mabe its my huge ass! lol) but, ea very happy with changes so far.
