I was at Trader Joe's today with my friend which is a big deal in itself since we had that big snowstorm last night.  Anyway to give you a picture of this, I have absolutely no makeup on, am sweaty from a previous snowball fight, and am wearing my big form hiding parka.  We're getting our groceries rung up there was some mistake made in the checkout process.  The woman at the counter called her manager over and referred to me as "she" when she was talking about my order.  It caught me slightly off guard because I was bracing myself to be referred to as "he."  It made me realize I must be on my way if I'm being taken for a girl when there is nothing to go on except my face.  I guess it didn't hurt that my guy friend sports a beard making me look more feminine by comparison. 

The moral of the story is that I've come to realize that if I'm to get anywhere I have to savor the small victories such as this one.

I think the small victories are actually the biggest sometimes. Good for you! :D

The battle is won by small victories.  And no matter when they come around, they still feel great.

I think that these small victories show the TS person really is TS...in the same situation a lot of wannabes would not get the she/her and it would let them know that the world does not see them as innately female.

I think it's a big victory :)

The first time I was called a she it felt good all over. I am happy for you because it will happen more and more often. I have not been referred to as he in 4 months!

Omg, I remember my first time.  For some reason, I had left my lights on and this gentleman says to me excuse me Ma'am, but you left your lights on.  I was taken so completely off guard that I thought he was talking to someone else, so I ignored him.  When he said it again, I turned to look at my lights finding them indeed on, I turned back to the gentleman and thanked him.  It was the highlight of my day, and for many years afterwards.  The only other one that made me happy was when I went into the mens restroom, and a gentleman there said excuse me ma'am but this is the mens restroom.  Glow all over.

Good for you that the small little things that will add up to bigger and better count now, as it gives us the confidence boost that we all need.

This wasn't my first time getting referred to as a she and I don't often get read as a guy very often anymore but in most cases I tend to put some effort into my appearance.  However this time I did absolutely nothing to look feminine and still was properly recognized as a girl.  That was a victory for me because it means I can go about my day without worrying about whether or not others see me properly. 

I am so happy for you!! That is just great. I have a bit of an androgynous look, so I hear people sometimes say "is that a boy or girl.", and considering I'm not going for an overtly feminine look, it feels really good.

Congratulations, Maddie.  Those small victories are so wonderful.  I cherish each one.  They are small validations that others see you as you see yourself.
