Title: I think I'm Ready to do it.
Post by: DavisJ86 on February 06, 2010, 06:55:44 PM
At least on facebook lol. Like I want to come out in general, but I guess I'll take waht I can stand. It's really great knowing my gf is behind me, she give me that extra boost to do what I need, but everytime I want to go, I stop. I want to talk to my therapist first to see what she say and bounce some ideas off of her. I feel like once I have that inital step of coming out done, the rest will come tumbling after. Just needed to vent.

A shameless Nike plug.

But you know the people in your life better than I.  But there comes a time when it is "Damn the torpedoes, Full speed ahead".

That is a very poignant statement.

Facebook is great for this. What I did was set up a new page with my now official name and sent an email, through facebook to all of my friends explaining the situation. I then said if you are still interested in being in my life friend me under my new account. Everyone was awesome about it. Also easier as a lot of my FB friends do not live near me.
Good Luck

I was going to send a message to all my close friends on there explaining everything, and then just change my name. And, if anyone had any questions they could message me. I just might do that. But probably not tonight. LoL.

I know it's not really relevant, but Facebook has uses?  O.O  Woooow.  I thought it was just a new way for my friends to organize events without consulting me and then acting like I was a jerk for not knowing about things.

I'm thinking of having a facebook page.

But.

I'm also thinking about getting a job in a more conservative area.  If I friend my trans friends, or come out as gay on it, that could have negative repercussions in getting a job later.  And I'd hate to not friend friends... or worry that I might be outed by what they might post.

But I can see the benefits.

Jay (damn conservative areas anyway!)
