Title: Cost of T
Post by: Evan on February 12, 2010, 02:34:09 PM

Well I got my letter finally on Wednesday to start T.. only problem now is that Walgreens says it's not covered by insurance (which I knew it wouldn't be), so I'd have to pay $188 for a 10cc vial. Is this the normal cost? I found it through an online pharmacy for $83 (drugstore.com), which seems more reasonable.. and honestly affordable since I'm out of work. The site seems to be well reviewed and legit, but I was wondering if anyone else had used it or has other suggestions?

I have used drugstore.com for other products, not prescriptions but... I got my stuff so... I think they are pretty legit.

According to this Strohecker's link.. a 10cc(10ml) vial is 52.95, ever since I started researching the net for transition around 2001, I've seen tons of men using Stro.

Happy Stroheckers customer here. Good price (under $60 for a 10 mL vial, including needles, swabs, and shipping) with excellent service.

no experience with T myself yet, but as a rule, imo, walgreens sucks. glad the other guys have some good suggestions, though.

When I went in for my first refill, the pharmacist at Costco was giving me a hassle--or he didn't know his own business. He was trying to tell me that T is a Schedule II substance and could only be dispensed in smaller quantities than the 10 mL vial that my endo had prescribed. The pharmacist was pretty snarky and said he would "let it go this time." That was all I needed to hear to come to the conclusion that I didn't want to keep going to that particular pharmacy.
With that said, Costco was pretty cheap when I went with the generic. You might find that your other alternatives are cheaper when you get generic.
Now I use Strohecker's, and the price is (as noted above) less than $60 for T, needles, swabs, and shipping. And they answer e-mails.

The thing to remember is that Stro's is a compounding pharmacy. You will pretty much always be able to get your T cheaper at a compounding pharmacy cheaper than from a drugstore chain or a medical facility. Why? Because the pharmacies sell their name brand, usually for close to double the price and that's what they call their cost, lol. It's pretty much the same stuff. It can be inconvenient waiting for the order vs. picking up locally but most guys I know don't mind waiting.

I was shocked at how fast Strohecker's got my T to me--and I had mailed in my prescription; I didn't fax it.

There was a holiday--Veterans Day--right in the middle of it all, but I got the T in about a week. So, maybe five mailing days from the time I sent out the request. I mailed off my scrip in the second half of the week--it was a Thursday or Friday. They sent the stuff on Tuesday, November 10; November 11 was the holiday; and I got the package on November 12.

jake that is weird as it should have been cheaper than that. As far as time goes I live in Portland and they have said I could pick it up the next morning before, so timing has been fine.

I'm just going to note (for the OP) that drugstore.com is an alt online store owned by rite aid/gnc, they used to be independent until they went tits up and was bought out.
(I used to be a customer of the old drugstore.com)

Jake, what type of testosterone were you prescribed? Testosterone cypionate is under $60 from them. Perhaps you have a script for something different, and they would need to go out of their way to compound a product they don't usually carry?
I am pretty sure thats what I am on. I will have to look. Pretty sad I dont know but its happens. I will get back to you on that.

i've heard great things about Stroehecker's but before ordering from them be sure they ship to your state. apparently online pharmacies have to get licensed in every state they ship to which gets expensive so if they don't have much income from there.....they let the license drop. a lot of guys in my support group had that happen to them (virginia)
