Taking license with identity

If you are not transgender, you might not understand how important this is to those of us who are. When you cannot change your gender marker on your ID papers, it is akin to a divorcee being required to keep her ex husband's name. It is a way for others to lay a claim in -- and attempt to control -- another's identity.
