Hi,
I was wondering about handwriting and whether or not your handwriting reflects who you are on the inside or if you've purposefully changed it to match?

Here's a sample of mine.

Do you think it looks girlie? I've been told it does, but I'm just not sure. I've tried hard to change it up, but it's actually kind of hard to change your writing style. I've been working on the s's. To me, they just seem to be to pointy. 

Or maybe I'm just too hung up in the details? :P I dunno!!

Mine on the other hand is a special code. No-one can actally read it, not even me!

Very girly,  my handwriting is like a chicken with St Vitus Dance who has just run through an ink factory.

I put it down to the fact that I had an old fashioned Primary School teacher who forced me to write with my right hand and the following year had a teacher who was happy with me using my left hand.

Your writing is probably dependent on your personality and how your brain is wired.

Personally, I used to just dot i's normally when I was younger but of late, I wanted to express myself more. So those i's started to have a bubbly dot above them, just like your i's. Now, it just feels right if I write that way.

I've been too lazy to update my writing style to be more feminine - it'd take effort! lol.

I grew up on computers, so I am more of a typer than a writer. I always wanted to get my handwriting to look better, but bleh, I'm too lazy, and I have very little actual need to write anything other than my signature.

Science has shown graphology to be a complete load of nonsense.   It may tell you if the writer is left right handed but it tells you nothing about personality or character.

Most if not all police authorities no longer use it.   What is frightenung is that about 30% of employers still use it to sort out job applicants.

Honestly, I write by hand so very little these days that I haven't even bothered thinking about it. When I think about it, my cursive is and always has been quite 'loopy' and whatnot but, honestly, most women's writing that I see around the workplace is about as bad as mine.

I have always been told that I write like a girl.  I use to have very poor handwriting, but three years of an art class greatly improved my handwriting.

I think yours may be too girly with them i's, that's more little girly.

My writing however looks like a spider walked in ink and then had an epileptic fit on a bit of paper.

I honestly have to say that the dots over the I's really are a little much for most of what I've seen in the world from people. YMMV

My birth name had an "i" in it, and ever since I learned to write I always used a little circle to dot it with. Being left handed I drew them clockwise from the top and they often came out looking like little hearts. Being an artist by trade I'm allowed to add a little flourish to my handwriting lol ;)

But I agree with Pippa- it's mostly just personal style.

Thanks everyone for you replies! I've always been told my printing is kind of girlie. My cursive is so bad I don't even know if you could technically call that writing! :P

I was surprised nobody commented on how they write their names...  I can't be the only one who practices writing it out?!

haha after I got my name changed I must have wasted a whole ream of printer paper practicing my new signature to get it just right. Still have a little trouble with the "o"s but it's legible at least :laugh:

Your handwriting can change as your health changes.  If you are healthy and relaxed, it will look different than if you are sick and/or stressed.  The style will remain the same, but the look will change.

I practiced my new signature like crazy.  I felt like a teenage girl with a crush on a boy in my class (except I didn't put "Mrs" in front of it). ::)  Still, when I went to get my new drivers license I signed two forms OK but then started to sign the actual license with my old name.  (Bad, bad Kate! >:()  I went home and practiced some more.

I have a problem when signing my name, because both my name and the old male name start the same way.  So I always stop just as I start the 'a'.  That way I don't accidently sign the old name.  :o

I've noticed my writing change as I've transitioned

Although I could write in various ways I would most often use all capital block lettering

Now my writing has more character too it much like the example given  :icon_chick:

I worked on my handwriting.

My friends tell me it's pretty girlie.

At first I would just write like each letter out like 20 times a night.  Then after I was pretty comfortable at each word, I started doing sentences maybe 10 times a night.  Then I just slowly took notes in class and focused on my handwriting.

It's not always perfect, (especially when I have to write really fast), but it works for me!

Mine's largely illegible. All swirly and stuff.

It's interesting how different one person's handwriting can be when doing it visually and consciously than when, for instance, doing it with your eyes closed and just letting it flow.

Mine is probably considered feminine. My cursive anyway. There's no point at my age to try to re-learn to write again. My writing is unique and often commented upon. I'll keep it.

That's so girly, even if the little circles over the i's were hearts, it wouldn't be able to make it much more girly because it's already 100% girly.

There used to be too much read into handwriting styles and experts now say that you can't read much into someone's character or personality from their handwriting!

Well isn't that neat? Mine came out a smidge "softer," straighter, and more evenly spaced. . .At least until I had to move my hand over.  :laugh: Then it got crazy as I tried to guess where on the page I was.

I once found an old account book from the late 1890s....first writing was beautiful copperplate then several years later a new bookkeepre took over with less perfect copperplate, then a few years later another with more modern script, then another until last couple of writers around 1920 had a modern scrawl...the old books about 3 inches thick lasted for maybe 30 years of accounts.
