I've always wondered this; Society shows that long, flourishing hair is the best and the most feminine...Every guy I've known or seen has liked long hair over short hair.

But is there really a true reason why men truly prefer a women with long hair over short?

And especially with the trans community...99% of the time MtF's will usually go for a long haired look over a more shorter look...There must be some connection. 

Because it's pretty?

hmm....well not all societies long hair is necessarily feminine, and even in those that it does, there can be differences in the styles of cuts that differ by gender. Plus some of the stereotypes of short hair only for guys was really enforced after WW2 in particular, and just in skeptics I'm wondering if we're coming out of that as time is passing on.

Personally in a girl I much rather prefer short hair myself *shrugs* but that's me lol.

Because men go bald.
And after a while, most people get sick of long hair. Ever notice how most older women have really short cuts? It's a sign of youth in a way.

After 20 years of long hair, I'm glad to have it cut shorter (now that I know it's not going to fall out.)

I'm not so sure that they get sick of long hair as much as it's much easier to manage when it's short which is very enticing to older or elderly people.

It's a cultural thing. Long hair might be masculine in another culture and short hair feminine- the only biological reasons I can think of are rather insignificant such as:

- Men bald.
- Like long nails, long hair might be a sign that one doesn't work. It would get sun damaged.
- Healthy hair is a sign of good overall health.

Well, I am not sure if I am qualified to make any sorts of observations on the way men feel, as I am TG, but, despite gender incongruence I am attracted to women, so here goes:

Impracticality=Awesome.

I hate to admit it, but the more painful the shoes, the more difficult the dress, the more work the hair the more I like the way it looks. The odd part, is that since my mind feels female and I am attracted to females, the same applies to myself. Even though I present male exclusively at this point in time, I still have hair down to my waist.

Of course I am young, but I have had long hair since I was 14 (10 years) I cannot however imagine myself as any gender without long flowing hair. If I started to lose my hair, I don't want to imagine what I'd do, but it wouldn't be good.

Of course, I do lament the fact that my wife doesn't have long hair, though her only real option to get it would be wigs or extensions as her hair just doesn't naturally grow very long.

Growing my hair long was always a way for me to express a bit of femininity before I transitioned and that was my main reason. The fact that guys like it is just an added bonus ;) My grandmother had hair down to her knees which she wore in a long braid wrapped into a bun on top of her head, so it's not necessarily a sign of youth lol

I think that guys have this idea of the hair flowing over a pillow in the middle of the sexual encounter.  So women find long hair are real drag to care and maintain.  Transwomen, I think grow it out because it is a sign of our inner view of femininity.  But as we grow as women we have our hair styled to our own personal tastes.

For me, I don't wish to cut it at all.  the longer the better.

Personally there is nothing better than thick long locks on a woman :) Just very feminie. :)

I like long hair on any gender. It just seems prettier

I keep long hair on myself because I have a disliking for short hair

I'm strange, I think short hair looks better on women but long hair looks better on males.

Sexuality is not determined by haircut, haircut is not determined by sexuality.

That being said.
My hubby likes long hair cause there's more to grab.
I like having long hair cause it suits me and there's more to dye blue.

now i am having gay thoughts. im glad i have long hair.

statements like that can only be true if noone reads them. because you know the first gay guy who reads that statement is going to grow long hair just to disprove the statement.

Er no.  That's not how it works.
A statement like that is Oviously false, regardless of whether or not it's read.

I knew guys that grow there hair long to protest the catholic school they went to.  One was a gay guy that I dated for a while he broke up with me because I was too much of a women for him.  There is at least one gay guy with long hair.

The idea I've got in my mind is that mens minds are analogues to cats.

They are fascinated by stringy things that move around alot, There like cats drawn to a tassel. Thus guys like long earrings, Skirty things and long hair.

Some of them also do the "I always seemingly emotionally distant but I actually couldn't go on without you" thing cats do aswell.
They also eat spiders.

For what it's worth, I don't find long hair to be particularly more "feminine" than short hair. I like both long and short hair on men, women, and everyone else - just depends on a person's physical appearance, personality etc. These things are just social conventions, nothing more.

Well I like long hair and earrings but I am a vegetarian so I don't eat spiders. :D

I think all men should have long hair. It seems natural. People say its feminine but if you look back in ancient times having long hair made you feel rugged. back in cave times everyone had long hair. if you took the time to cut your hair it was a symbol that you were interested in beauty...which is not "manly" or "rugged". Sampson supposedly lost all of his strength when his hair was cut.
Why am I saying this? I wear long hair to be feminine...

Also that is another reason men like long hair. because things blowing in the wind looks badass. thats why superheroes wear capes and villians wear trenchcoats. in the comic book world you can even get away with wearing a skirt (well actually sort of a half-tunic) as long as the lower half looks frayed and ripped. if you are skorge you can even get away with wearing a bikini and thong.

But, short hair can be too.
