Title: The Lost Boys
Post by: rexgsd on March 14, 2010, 02:42:50 PM
Anyone else LOVE this movie?
It is my favourite (next to The Road Warrior :B)

Who is your favourite lost boy?
Or maybe your favourite is one of the other characters?

I love David, but other than him my favourite is Paul! He is just so good looking and funny and awesome!

Yesterday was the first time I watched it, but it has all of the 80s cheesy morality play stuff I love, plus the evil kind of vampires, which is always nice.

Anyone else think that the design in this movie is what led to how the vampires look in Buffy?

I also liked the implication that vampirism is totally metal.  Not goth, not emo, not romantic Victorian.

Metal.

The Lost Boys = Awesome.

Michael, somewhat because he looks strangely like my dad in his youth.

I love 80s movies, and definitely The Lost Boys. I don't recall his character's name, but Keifer Sutherland was something in this. He looked goooooood, and my gate doesn't even swing that way!

Keifer played David in the movie.

Back when vampires wanted to spread mayhem and chaos, and not kiss living girls or sparkle or whatever the hell it is they do these days.

If you want another movie with nasty and unapologetic vampires, check out 30 Days of Night. It has its flaws (let's face it, what movie doesn't?) but it's not bad at all. I would like to see Edward whatsisname go up against one of these guys. Sheer bliss.

Or read the comic book. It was better than the movie IMO.

i really love that movie, its brutal graphic they are cruel and even have their own spoken tongue as vampires would really be.

everytime i see it on televison im there (being scared)

tbh i really like the twilight ones too, you have to appreciate they are teenage love stories then the film makes much more sense.

I don't have to appreciate that.  I'm a literature major.  There's really no form of writing lower than "teen romance drama."  It's always uninspired and always vapid.  Not to mention the underlying message in Twilight is to continue dating your abusive boyfriend.

I feel bad for Corey Feldman.  What's he going to do now?  Also, the name I was assigned at birth is Corey, so I always feel a twinge when someone with that name leaves this mortal coil.

Ya, poor Corey. He couldn't go to Haim's funeral/wake either because it was private family only.

There is still a big cult for this film in and around Santa Cruz where it was filmed.

True that... There was a big cult following when I lived there anyway

I use to walk across the bridge that was in the film... It was a short cut across town to get to a friends house

Everyone I know who moved to Santa Cruz spend about a year there.  The first three months were awesome, the second three months were average, the third three months were horrible, and the last three months they spend trying to move anywhere else.

It seems to be the people more than the place that grates.  Though it is almost uniquely isolated by forests, ocean, Mexican gangs, and the ultra-rich.
