A while ago, we touched on the subject of the microflora in the vaginas of post-operative trans women, wondering what it might be like or indeed if there is any. As it turns out, we definitely have vaginal microflora, but not quite what we might expect—or want.
My dear friend and sister Jillian recently sent me a link to a paper that shows the results of the first study done on the vaginal microflora of post-operative trans women. These were all women who had been operated on using the inverted penile skin flap technique, the most common technique in North America and Europe, in which the skin of the penis is used to line the new vagina.
