Title: Applying for a Rental Apartment
Post by: Icephoenyx on April 01, 2010, 10:07:37 PM
So, the time has come where I am done school and am moving out of home to transition, which entails getting my own place. If I was to apply to rent a place, could I apply with a female name even if my name hasn't legally changed yet?

Can they check into that kind of stuff if they have my social insurance number, etc?

Thanks

Chrissi

Can they?  It would absolutely blow my mind if they didn't.

Expect a background/credit check. Also a lease agreement is a legal cpntract. IIRC correctly a contract needs your legal name to be valid.

So should I just be honest with potential landlords? I don't want to get flagged or anything.

Guess I need to get my name changed ASAP!

Be open about yourself and the name you wish to be know as.  Your money is just as green as anyones.
