Title: Menopause?! Surly you jest sir....
Post by: Sevan on April 02, 2010, 01:19:56 PM
So...I've been on T for two months now...and I'm freakin HOT! I sweat, I'm always in short shirts, I don't like showers warmer than luke warm, I kick off the blankets at night and sweat like no other...

I brought this up with my doctor and he looked at me all surprised like I should know and responded "Well yea! These are hot flashes! You are going through menopause like symptoms"

Umm...what!? Not cool. SO not cool. I'm not impressed. I can't even snuggle with my wife because she feels like a furnace to me!! I threw a half asleep tantrum last night because she touched me. Not cool. Her reaction woke me up fully and I realized that I was thrashing and acting like a whinny child (while asleep...) and was so embarressed.

The doc suggested black cohosh to help with the flashes but upon reading about that...it's got estrogenic effects which makes me hesitant.

My T is hovering around 600, but my E has come up some (53..I think?) They said that's normal for it to rise because the body doesn't like to give up it's cycle....(which strikes me odd because before T I *didn't* cycle! Why the body wants E NOW...is quite beyond me)

Anyone else go through this? And if so...please tell me I'm at the annoying tail end. I'm not having fun. How long is this nastiness gonna last? My mom went through her menopause for like...years!! I didn't expect this because I'm on T, and I've got plenty so...I didn't really think....ugh! Stupid.

I don't remember anything that bad.  In any event, it shouldn't last long. I'm actually colder than I used to be.

Thanks Nero. I certainly hope it's short lived. I used to be so cold before! Gosh. I loved curling up under a blanket, super hot nearly scalding showers....but now...I'm so internally hot....can't seem to stand any outter source of heat.

Conversly I'm either too hot or too cold. Rarely "just right" anymore. Bleck.

Yeah, it's probably just the hormones fighting. E taking its last stand.

I didnt get that, i had hot flushes prior to T and the T stopped them lol.
What i did find though, was the mood swings...by god i see what people mean about locking me in my room and not letting me back out for the next year.

It will stop though, it's just your hormones dooking it out in there.

You're hot then you're cold, you're yes then... oh.

I freeze my ass off as a girl now. That's why layers were invented, and why men wear shorts and flipflops in January.

I used to have really painful periods and cysts every other month, the first month and a half-2 months on T I had cramps once in awhile and would get pretty hot. I'm at 3 months as of yesterday and haven't noticed anything like that for a few weeks. My body temperature has risen but I'm not hot necessarily, just not as cold or affected by the cold like I used to be. Like I used to wear a sweatshirt and jeans all summer before. Now, I am already walking around outside in shorts and a t-shirt and this is the first warm week we have had and it is still cold in the mornings and evenings.

I would say just wait it out, just the E taking its last stand.

Yep, it happened to me. It sucked but lasted for about 1.5-2 months. Just ride it out.

Also, bare in mind that this is a forced puberty so the start isnt gonna be pretty to say the least lol.
I think ours is more straining physically than it is mentally.
