Title: Job :/
Post by: S.Heidi on April 09, 2010, 12:21:01 PM
I just got layed off yesterday. Sales have been dropping dramatically this year and being the bottom worker (seasonal) I was in the worst position.
It's understandable really, it's a family run record store in town. They were the sweetest family I have ever had the pleasure to work for, so there's absolutely no bad feelings towards them.

The sadder part is that I was already two going on third therapy session. Only two months to go, and I am stressing out on how I'm going to do all this.

If I can just get the Letter, I would feel at ease and Hrt would then be sought after on my own accord. I would then just have to postpone Hrt just a little. But the therapy sessions now this large obstacle I don't even know how I'm going to forge through.

I have been thinking of selling my movies and most of video game and consoles. That might get one more session.. maybe.

Woeth me

However on the bright side, after I got home I treated myself to a nice hot shower, and plucked my eyebrows just a little for a less masculine appearance. The job loss seemed to have propelled my determination for change.

Because of this, I want to ask the therapist if there is a quicker way to obtain the letter, but I'm afraid she'll take offense. Not only that, since this is her focus she has an obligation to stick to the rule book.

Is there a way to ask without sounding pushy?
Or should I stay away from asking for a quicker diagnosis?

Relax, stay cool, keep your spirits up, continue on with your life and start looking for a new job.  Not sure where you are located, but you may likely have to pay for your hormones too, and lab tests, etc and it will take even more financial resources.  Take it easy on yourself, don't rush things.

Explain your situation to your therapist and may be she can help you come up with a plan, you both can live with,

Hi there,

Yeah, look for another job as soon as possible, Transition very expensive and you need all the resources you can possibly lay your hands on. Seriously I had no idea when I started and I'm in the UK so have the NHS for certain things like, SRS, therapy, HRT. Had some laser for facial hair on the NHS but they only pay for a certain amount then its down to you. Hair removal is expensive and time consuming as well. NHS will not pay for female facial surgery on the whole.
I know its different in The USA, perhaps Obama's new health reforms will help?

So sorry you lost your job so take care and I hope you find another one soon,

Stardust

Our health reform does nothing for a person who already has insurance really. IT doesn't stop any insurance company from excluding transgender care.
