TSA stuff basically says to make sure that the rx'ed med is in your legal name (on passport) and they won't care, I'm guessing *most* other countries customs will be the same way, assuming one isn't carrying a restricted substance (at which the us embassy will help).

I've been on two airplane trips (one to the Republic of Panama, the other to NYC) since starting T.  None of my stuff was held up or questioned, by either security or customs.  I've had needles + T in my carry-on and in checked luggage.  The only time something was mentioned was when TSA wanted to physically check the contents in my carry-on (it wasn't because of the needles, but because of an electronic souvenir I bought... guess it looked suspicious).  The TSA worker must've seen the needles in the scan, though, because she asked if they were capped before she opened the bag.  But... yeah, no problems.  I even keep a letter from my doctor with my supplies stating that everything is medically necessary, but I've never needed to pull it out.  Just keep the needles capped or in a sharps container, so nobody's accidentally poked if they need to examine your bag.

Hmz, tricky question. Common doctor suggestions seem to be to keep the medication in its original packaging and carry a copy of the dr.'s script and also a copy of the little paper sheet you get from the pharmacist with all the details typed out - drug, dosage, etc.

To be sure you can always check the consulate websites for the countries you'll be visiting and check or inquire on their policy regarding this. It varies a lot per country.

Take the script and Dr letter with you. Keep the needles capped in your hand luggage. You will have no problems in Europe but some Asian countries can be tricky, but the Dr letter etc will be of vital use their. But as others have said use your consulate site for good info. The consulates are VERY helpful, always thought they were full of career travelers but they have helped me heaps and quickly.

If they do want to search your hand luggage warn them there are needles inside and that they are capped. Australia can be awkward, we are not allowed to take even nail clippers on to planes as hand luggage :embarrassed:. But again your Dr letter will cover that because diabetics etc can take medication with them.
