Title: Bloating: Period or Testosterone?
Post by: TheOtherSide on April 18, 2010, 05:07:39 PM

I've noticed I've felt bloated my second week on testosterone... is that a side effect? I know I should get my period (If I get it...) sometime late this week but I don't know if I'm bloating because I'm menstruating or if testosterone has that effect. I thought I'd feel slimmer but I've definitely noticed bloating in my thighs.

Well, the uterine lining has to go somewhere. You'll probably have another period at least.

Yeah, after only two weeks on testosterone I imagine you'll have at least one more period.

You'll get at least 3 before they actually stop.
You havent been on T long so your still adjusting.
Mine took..3-4 months to stop.
They'll be very very light aswell, mine were.
Its basically the last of it lol.

Marc, I had a period one week after my first shot (I'm on half dose, fortnightly) and that was my last one. So yeah, everyone is different.

That's not necessarily true, I, like Ryan, also had one the week after I started T and that was my last one.

The bloating could be water retention from the testosterone, from the monthly, or from both.

Same here (happened 1 week after I started T, then never happened again), except I started on a full dose, weekly.

Drink more water :P No, really. Increase your fluids from the usual 8 cups a day to about 10. Skip the salty foods like canned goods and prepared meals. Exercising helps as well.
This will help if it's from the T and/or from the other.

Whoa.... trippy!
I also "fell to the communists" at the end of the first week on T. It just sort of happened out of nowhere - It was not within the "usual" timeframe for it.
Never had one afterwards (but sometimes they wouldn't happen pre-T either, so it's a bit early to say for sure - I'll call it the last one if I don't see anything more for 6 months).
Started on full dose, biweekly injections.

Ok I was getting quite psyched out with the fluid retention in my legs. These posts have put me a little at ease. The last few days I've had a lot of edema build up in my feet and lower legs. Looks like it could be both due to the fact that this is my 17th day on T (Nebido) and that my period would have been due soon, or could be that I've bee munching on some salted peanuts the last couple of days... It started to freak me out when I began to feel pain when walking since last night.

I never had another period after I started T. It was due 3 weeks after I started T but it never came.

Just as I suspected: last night there was blood. Smattering. Woke up this morning, nothing on the pad itself. Still a smattering. Still ugghhh. Dranks lots of water last night, doing better with edema.

Yeah drinking loads of water will help you feel better overall.
My "P" experience: I started T in late October, had a period on thanksgiving, then never had another one (thank goodness)!

Thanks, Xchrisx and Jeh. Doing sooooo much better with more water intake. Taking each day as it comes.
Jeh, you're lucky. Everyone's body's different, reacting differently to the same stimulus.
Xchrisx, I do hope this is my last one. Seriously.
