Kate Hudson finally convinced her six-year-old son, Ryder, to cut off his long locks.
Hudson admits it's always been a battle to give her son a haircut. "He won't let me cut it," she previously told US Weekly. In addition, she blames his rocker dad, Chris Robinson, lead singer if the Black Crowes. "I think it's a daddy thing," she said. "His daddy's got long hair so he loves his long hair."

While we're all for individuality and expressing yourself with your hair, at what point does this become damaging for a little boy if he is being mistaken for a girl? Are their parents setting them up for an identity crisis or are they just having fun with their child's looks?

Hair length male or female, Who cares? Obviously the media but what does it have to do with how you live your life or your ability to work?

I would say at no point does it become damaging. At least no more so then any normal teasing that any child will get. I think parents go too far in trying to protect their children from imagined risks, which isn't good, as I know more than a few people who have serious mental problems due to helicopter parenting.
Then again I am biased as I love my long hair, and I'd like to think that being transgendered has nothing to do with that. And when I was a young child my parents used to force me to cut my hair, and it was rather damaging to me. I still get angry thinking about it. luckily, I have done nothing more than trimming my hair since I was 13 (which is incidentally the last time I lived with my parents), and I couldn't be happier about that.

Right or wrong? They don't even enter into this. It's like wearing a black shirt. It suits some, some prefer it and some will disagree. Long haired guys aren't automatically trans, effeminate, gay, rockers or anything.
