Hey all,
It's been a while but, well, I finally started HRT. I've got some things to share and things to ask so I'll get right to it. HRT is injections once weekly with daily spiro regimen. I've been on E for 2.25 weeks and spiro for about 1.5 months.
To share:
- Things do NOT always go slow.
- Breasts are already coming in (at this rate a-cup at the end of this week).
- Skin is done changing over also body hair
- Emotions are a little fragile and I'm getting much more so every day.
- Fat redistribution is pretty far along at this point (face, buttocks, etc.)
What's hard on me currently is a feeling of 'spaciness' or kind of not really being able to line things up like I used to. I'm a programmer by trade (like so many others) and that's what funds all this wonderful stuff. Problem is that development takes a very steady kind of logical ordering. You need to be able to think 'if A is true and B is true then process C on the result of AB' kinda stuff. It's not hard for simple tasks but for more complex things where I have to juggle lots and lots, I can't keep it all in my head and even paper is of limited help right now.
I'm kind of worried that this will last long enough to make things... difficult at work. Have any of the rest of you been trough this and if anyone knows what I'm talking about, does it taper off in strength after a while?

Only been on HRT for 6 months now but I did notice a similar issue after a few weeks.
After a week I aclimatised to the situation.
What I think is going on is that all the E in our blood stream causes some of our brain pathways to redifine themselves and create new new pathways. That remaping makes us a little off kilter until we adjust.

YES!
I know exactly what you are going through! I too feel like I have lost a bit of my edge as a result of going on estrodial. But I'm not sure if it the hormones (over three years now) or just getting old...
Either I am getting used to it, or it tapered off a bit. But I do have to concentrate much more on the subject at hand than I used to. I sometimes talk to myself as I work; "Do this..." "Close this window..." "Open command line..." "Write a routine to do this and this..."
I don't really have any advice for you, other than keep plodding away...

I am also on injections and after an initial surge things have gone at a steady pace. I am older so injections are best but I would have them even if I was younger; they work very well for me.

I am and have been on oral medications. My doctor says that he has not seen any better results with injectables over oral.

I actually like the injections. I don't like that actual injecting, but to just do something once and then not have to do anything else for another 10 - 14 days is really great. Plus, don't have all those extra pills wearing down my liver.

Both my Estrogen and Progesterone are sublingual, so I don't worry that much about my liver.
