(I'm doubly insulted, not only as a man married to another man, but also as a heathen, and Heathenry is not inherently racist as they suggest!)
QuoteThe authors of the statement remind that PACE at its April session plans to discuss rights of various minorities, especially sexual, and that "major part of European deputies propose that all states of the Council of Europe should introduce a subject on peculiarities of homosexual behavior in the school curriculum."
"Is it possible that once Christian Europe has forgotten the Holy Scripture and the destiny of Sodom and Gomorrah?" the experts wonder urging deputies of Russia, Ukraine and other Orthodox states to oppose such attempts.

Why do all of these religious people label anything and everything as "god's wrath"? It's called nature, you morons.

I keep thinking "you know.. if god's so pissed he wants to really show off his wrath... wouldn't he you know... Kill people?... instead of just making them dusty?"
I mean, it just seems similar to writing "hate mail" where the worst thing you say is "I'm not too fond of you, don't take it personally".
"Oh Noes! My flight's delayed! I must repent my sins!" just seems silly.
Ash that delays international travel just seems.... well.... Less than a powerful display of divine rage!

Also you would figure that an omnipotent being such as God would not have to speak in signs such as volcanoes. That is so first century!
I mean he could simply write a billboard twelve miles high and twenty miles long that says:
I"M FCKING PISSED AND I'M COMING DOWN THERE TO KICK SOME ASS!!!
Though, I think that even with that subtle a message, we'd still have some clown not be able to figure it out...

If Ye Almighty God Je-F-ckin'-Hovah Up There In The Sky were really and truly feeling murderous, wouldn't They make it completely invisible and undetectable, and sprinkle the airplane-sinking dust from the heavens instead of spouting it in massive, extremely visible plumes from the Earth? I mean, really. Fer realz, people!

Give 'em a break! This is just another opportunity to get all those people on the fence, who are sneaking out the doors at church, and corral them back into the pews with a little fear of the fire and brimstone. It's a time honored tradition that's been proven very effective over the millennium.

(Mind you, that photo is over a week old, it doesn't have a face anymore, now it's just one big crater, not three.)
Allthough... a face out of the ground that spews fire seems more like "the enemy" than yhvh.

I understand that there was this bloke in Galilee who got into strife with the religious establishment a while back.....
Anyway, I wouldn't complain if I had to spend an extra week in Paris or London, and I bet the sunsets are gorgeous as well.

You have got to remember, these are the same religious elements that it took quite nearly 1500 years for them to accept that the Earth was round and that the Earth also was not the center of the universe! :-\

More importantly, even though these people use religion, they are politically motivated.
We have seen this repeatedly. People claiming they are killing to deliver democracy, never forget the 'Freedom Loving people of Kuwait', there are politically motivated thugs claiming to be Muslims yet behaving against all of the basic tennats of Islam.
What we can learn here is that some people will use anything to get power and attention.
Best ignored.

Sadly we cannot ignore these cretins, we have to respond in letters to the newspapers to remind people of scientific proof. Otherwise they gain power, some can even reach high office GWB for example.
As a case in point, we have had a series of letters in the local press concerning a young boy who 'drowned' and was clinically dead (which BTW is a poor term), his dead Grand mother sent him back, according to the child. It has become a debate between atheists and religious people over the proof of heaven. No one has discussed modern medical retrieval technology. Even though the ER units advertise to people that if they think their friend is dead from a drug overdose, don't abandon them, let an ER unit (by ambulance etc) know, because we can raise some of the 'dead'. No spiritual miracles involved.

I wil accept that they are experts on the Orthodox Church, but I don't believe they are likely to be experts in the field of Vulcanology.
I like Miniar's point , it's like God giving the Egyptians a plague of dandruff! or cursing the Pharoah with a bald spot!

So, first "immodest" women cause earthquakes in Iran, and now homosexuals are causing volcanoes to erupt in Iceland? :D
Makes you wonder, if God is that pissed, why have there been no earthquakes on the French Riviera, or volcanic eruptions in San Fransisco? He's not been very good at hitting his targets, has he? :eusa_think:

Uuuuuhm no... best called on their idiocy methinks.

There are innumerable charlitans out there looking to attract attention.
By responding to such idiotic notions we give them the publicity they seek.
But to be honest, Miniar, I get the feeling, I'm shouting at the wind.
There is a war of words between different groups who want to take our societies in different directions. Each claims to have justification. Each is repeatedly found to be lying.
People claiming to have the backing of religious texts, yet when we look at the texts we realise there is no such backing at all.
People claiming to have scientific evidence yet when we look at their evidence we realise there is no evidence at all.
People claiming to be scientists, found to be using subjective reasoning. Dawkins. Psychologists. They always respond with stock answers. They are experts. You clearly have issues. And so on.
People claiming to be religious, applying inaccurate history or textual referencs. They always respond with stock answers. You are a communist/Islamist/anti-democratic. They have seen the real consequences. And so on.
The only way to deal with these idiots is not to give them the air of respectability.
In another thread, there was a report about some guy who claims that, since homosexuality has only been legal for a very short time, it shouldn't be considered entirely legitmate yet. The argument was actually quite funny.
Stick to our core issue. We are adults. We make choices about how we live our lives. We have the right to contribute to society.

Well, we are preparing for another EARTHQUAKE in San Francisco, and there is seismic activity thats a little southeast of it that is right under a major California Ski resort that looks like a volcano in a few decades, but no sooner. Out here though, earthquakes are a form of entertainment, and the biggest problem is not the dead victims, its the whiny ones that are alive, and won't help clean up the mess. They are the real wrath of god since they take the place of a plague of locusts any day. They eat up all the food and fly on to somewhere else to eat up all the food. I frankly prefer the natural disasters to that type of survivor.
On the God is gonna get you side : A fundamentalist pastor and a noted atheist had been paired up in a charity golf tournament. The clergyman was playing fairly well, but the atheist was having problems. On the third hole the clergyman had made it to the green, but the atheist had hooked his shot into a sand trap!! On seeing what he had done, the atheist loudly says "F*&in Jesus, I missed the green. The Clergyman looked over to him and said, God will not tolerate that language! and will punish you". The atheist just snorted, and they played the hole with nothing further. Two holes later, the atheist had another bad shot and again shouted out ""F*&in Jesus, I missed again" The clergyman told him very stongly, I mean it, God is going to punish you for that if you say it again!!! On the next hole, the atheist actually missed the ball on his tee swing, and shouted out his loudest "F*&in Jesus, I missed again!!!" At that moment, as the clergyman was about to speak, a bolt of lightning came shooting out of the sky and killed the clergyman instantly!! In a roll of thunder though came a voice saying ""F*&in Jesus, I missed again!!" >:-)

The dinosaurs aren't mentioned in the Bible, so they didn't get anything done to them!! The devil gives us the false impression that they existed just to make us go against what God REALLY TOLD us. You don't listen to the EXPERTS!!!

Now I've gotten the 7 devils out of me!!! AHHHHHHHH that feels good.
It would be interesting if someone did find that long and totally lost biblical book called the REVELATION OF T.REX THE DIVINE.

As for the threads original topic: Lol Theres always a christian group that thinks SOME natural disaster is god's wrath.. God is SO annoyed at us, so much so that he really really REALLY wants to annoy us by stopping all our air travel plans! D: The current Christian fundamentalist favorite is 2012, supposed to be judgement day! Yawn, wasnt the year 2000 supposed to be a judgement day too? How many of these fake judgement days are there supposed to be? Perhaps theres enough to make a judgement week out of them! Nah maybe theres enough to make a judgement month! ;D

In the mind of a true protestant, nobody can ever have any fun because every day is judgment day. It's, ya know, judgment life, or perhaps judgment spacetime continuum if you'd like to get all technical and scientific and universalizing about it.

If people believe it then fine, the problem starts when they talk about it and promote it. religion should be kept at home, personal and private, but never in public, when will we learn, after so many wars, so hypocritical
