Title: Nice swimsuit and a question about deliberately shrinking the garment

I finally got the suit I ordered in February, and I really like it. The spandex inner panty is real snug, plus there is a semi-skirt that can be pulled down for extra piece of mind.
The top is awesome. I looked at the inner cup, and said, "No way I can fill that out. But it just sucked right to me, and I love the way it looks. I am 38AB and usually wear a 13 or 14 dress. This bra is perfect in a 12.
It's not a perfect suit though. The bottom is real big. If I could afford to buy another whole suit, I'd like to get an 8, because I think that bottom would be the best fit.
In the meantime, I am wondering what my chances are to shrink that bottom. It's a nylon bikini bottom with a spandex bikini inside. The spandex is sewn to the nylon only at the seems. What do you think will happen if I soak the bottoms and put them in a hot dryer. You think I can shrink the garment a size or two without ruining it?
It's not perfect

Hey Gina,
Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck shrinking clothes. Most things don't even shrink... I think for the best results, the garment has to be non-preshrunk, 100% cotton. The few things I have managed to actually shrink always turn out either too small or deformed.
Good luck, though!

Neither spandex, nor nylon 'shrink' the way wool or cotton, or other natural fibers will. Neither will even take a dye unless they are treated with acid first. I think you'd have better luck just buying a new bottom. There are lots of places that sell each part separately.

you've got the problem that makes clothes buying such a pain...smaller bottom than top.
nylon will not shrink basically but aas the fit is really governed by the width you could try stitching the side seams about quarter or half inch further in as that may be all it needs.
try pinning it first to get the fit then evry carefully sew it with tiny neat stitches or gt a ladyfriend to sew it with a machine...and please not...making clothes is a very ladylike pastime
