Hi, I hope this isn't against the forum rules, but I'd like to tell islamic transexuals about a support group dedicated to supporting LGBT muslims called Imaan, you should find good support there for help and encouragement balancing your faith and your gender identity ;D
Theyre very friendly too,.
I think Imaan is UK-based, however..

Aisha, I am always fascinated by your surrealist contributions. :)
And yes, they do have a website (http://www.imaan.org.uk/ (http://www.imaan.org.uk/)) but as the web address suggests, they are UK-based. Islam is Islam, though (or should be) and so they will probably offer what assistance they can wherever you live. I couldn't find their forums from that rather basic page though, their forums are here: http://imaanlondon.proboards.com/index.cgi (http://imaanlondon.proboards.com/index.cgi)

If anyone is in Canada or the US they could possibly try Salaam Canada who have a good reputation: http://salaamcanada.com/ (http://salaamcanada.com/)
Have had considerable personal experience in the past of "Imaan" in the UK and sadly cannot say it has been a positive one. Whatever may be stated as their LGBTQI mission statement they remain primarily a Gay South Asian male group with all that entails. Am very sad to say that and no doubt they would strongly refute my assertion but I can only speak from my own experience. Insha'Allah one day we will be able to build something more inclusive, that remains my hope.

This is wonderful news, for all of our Muslim brothers and sisters.
If I may add, for those of us who are not Muslim also. It is enlightening to see that, while most Muslim people are reserved and very self respecting, the intolerance that many are taught to associate with Islam, is not part of what Islam really means for most.

Thanks for that, Spacial, much appreciated. Yes, it is my hope to one day that we are able to set up an alternative Muslim or Muslim orientated group that is is multicultural and transcends the usual issues. It may take time but hopefully we will get there in the end. Frankly it's not good that here in the "West" we are unable to match what has been done in a developing nation like Indonesia. The reasons are many, we are a minority within a minority within a minority for starters. Intolerance is wrong and is strongly refuted in the Muhammad's (pbuh) last sermon when he stressed equality across ethnicities and women's rights towards their men. Unfortunately many forget that message and let cultural mores rule their lives and those of others.
