WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) - New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's cross-dressing lawsuit threatens the freedoms of business owners, the Family Research Council says.

The New York Daily News reported this week that Cuomo's suit against American Eagle Outfitters will force the company to rescind its ban on male employees wearing women's clothing and vice versa.

"Every American who believes in the right of employers to set dress and grooming standards for their employees should be alarmed by how this attorney general has used bullying tactics and litigation to impose cross-dressing policies on American Eagle Outfitters," FRC president Tony Perkins said.

Quote"If Congress approves President Obama's ENDA bill, employers in every state can expect to experience the same expensive, burdensome litigation that has been pursued against American Eagle Outfitters."

Not if they don't break the law.

So if an employee wants to wear a kilt, or Fijian sulu will they be sacked? It's a dress when all is said and done.

No, they are not going to fire you for what you wear, but being a major 'fashion' retailer they could fire you for not knowing the difference between a skirt and a dress.  A dress is one piece from the shoulders, or there abouts, while a skirt goes from the waist down.

There is almost always a way to get rid of people you don't want working for you.

I wish the media would stop calling these hate groups "family organizations."

I agree with kyril as well.

Just because a hate organization calls itself a family group doesn't change what they are.

I wish the media would stop using official hate groups as the voice of opposition to ENDA.

Tekla, I could say you were being picky, but you would probably insist you were being pedantic :D

Nah, I was just trying to show that if they can't get you for one thing, they will find another.
