Is it true that no matter how old you are you will never have normal breasts without surgery?

Well, that depends on your physiology. Most people cannot grow breasts without HRT.

Oh. Well, it does seem somewhat rare for transwomen to get to the final Tanner stages, if that's what you mean. That's what they say anyway.
But that only means that they may resemble a younger girls' breasts, not that they aren't normal.

mostly from lack of years on a development dosage of hrt, the usual thought is to reduce dose as soon as surgery is done vs as soon as development is finished.

good point. it took me like 7 years till mine were done.

I would recommend staying the same dose after genital surgery (orchi or srs) but it's really up to the prescribing physician.

(alot go by the old cut back 1/3 rule, dr reed included, assuming blood levels were good preop what's a little extra t going to do to screw things up?)

Thanks, I'll take all of this into consideration when I start hrt and have srs.

My bust is all my own - it's full a tanner stage 5 F cup bust but it took me about 5 or more years of reasonably high dose HRT and including progesterone to get it.

So no Tori - it is NOT true that you will never have a normal bust - just that it takes time and some people, because of their physiology, never get there.

Defining normal is always difficult.
I think Tori was after normal 'looking' rather than normal female breasts. The tissue structure of breasts on HRT for a TG is different to that found in natal females. TG do not (usually) develop the milk ducts etc as found in natal breasts. TG breasts are mainly fat deposits, which is a normal part of natal breasts, but we do not develop the full structure. Blame DNA.

No if you had too much fatty tissue in the boobs you'd have tubular boobs, Those begin boobs with too much fat in them not enough ducts and connective tissue.

What happens with us is that development to tanner stage 5 just takes forever and won't happen if you don't take P. Where our milk ducts are there they don't develop completely unless your on P. Our boobs tend to have over abundances of connective tissue partly because of the comparative age thing giving them a very pert triangular shape commonly seen with teenagers.

I think progesterone is key! BTW, did/do you cycle progesterone? I have been on it for a couple of months now and taking it daily.

Yes I do follow a 28 day cycle with varying dosages of both Progesterone and Estrogen but I don't actually think the cycling is that important. The really important thing is to have a base level of P. present because as someone else observed without it you simply don't get the milk ducts and connecting tissue. I know I have the glandular tissue and milk ducts because I can feel them and indeed I can easily express milk at certain times.

Thanks I read in the gynecomastia post that, that was the case.

I have developed what I feel are normal breasts for me. They are firm A-B cup with sensitive nipples, even lactate very easily.  Estrogen & Progesterone & Motillium over a number of years. No surgery needed. I'm very happy with them.

I hope my future endo puts me on it.
