Title: Hips and thighs

After being on testosterone for a few months (or years) will your hips and thighs shrink enough to wear male pants without looking a bit off? I've been on T for 6 weeks now and I can get away with wearing slightly baggy jeans but if you can still kind of tell I have a female shape. I pretty much only wear two different pants right now.

The fat that pads and curves a woman's hips and thighs generally shifts away and into more male patterns of carried fat when you're regularly taking T. That will help give a more male silhouette, but it's only one factor. A woman's skeleton tends towards a wider, tilted pelvis (this also changes the angle of your femurs from hips to knee, the 'knock kneed' look some women have is due to this) and there's not much you can do about changing that.
That said, if you wear your pants on the baggy side and keep the waist below your navel/around your hips, that will help.

It depends on the amount of fat you have and your bone structure I guess.
I found around 2 months on T that my hips shrunk enough to make my boxers fit properly. Like before they were too high or too low, but now they just fit nicely.

i have rather large thighs and hips,i think. depends on were ur hips are if thats around ur butt then its huge and all i wear are mens clothes. i dont any female garmet besides a sports bra which i wear to bed. maybe its were i wear my pants but when i wear jeans u wouldnt even no that i have large thighs. maybe u should wear ur jeans were i wear mine. this is what i go by: just above the pubes right below the crack anything higher is may to uncomfortable, any thing higher feels like a wedge, i need crotch room i know its microscopic but it needs air. you could also wear sweat pants i wear those a lot cause im fat so when if i cant fit in my jeans i wont fell so fat. BTW by thighs are around 27" and my hips are 48".

Does anybody know any particular exercises that will specifically cut down on the fat in the thighs for people who aren't on T? I'm going to get my butt in gear this summer and try to lose some weight, and the feminine shape of my thighs has bothered me since I grew 'em.

I'm on the elliptical everyday and doing plenty of squats and lunges when I'm not. I'm losing some body fat, gaining some muscles. Down 5% in about 6 weeks. It's all about consistency and watching your diet as well. High protein and lower fat is the way to go. I normally end up with 35 percent protein, 35 carb and 30 fat at just under 1500 calories.

You can't really lose weight in just one area (unless you get liposuction). Just losing fat in general should help reduce those areas, though. Weight lifting helps tighten and tone, and improve your metabolism, but the downside is you'll build some muscle and that can temporarily make you bigger. You can try cardio with a good diet (lean protein, lots of vegetables, whole grains, lots of water). HIIT (high intensity interval training) will give you quicker results than steady cardio work, too. You can do that with any cardio activity, such as walking, jogging, biking. You'd want to do your HIIT every other day, and on the in between days either rest or if you really want to get hardcore, do some weight lifting or body weight circuits.

My hips shrank and my weight didn't but my pants keep falling down even with a belt. It is annoying.

Ooh, but I envy you. I can't wear half the pants or shorts I want to cause they're so tight over my butt... :P

What about your thighs? I don't have huge thighs but I have enough to show a feminine shape. I'm hoping that'll change enough so I can comfortably wear mens pants.

Maybe its just me, but I started working out my abs alot, along with my thighs and lower back and I'm starting to notice that my shape is looking more male. I don't have hips really, but I have fat around that area that is way too curvy for my liking. I hate my butt, but I don't think there's much I can do about that except wait for T to work its magic.

I'm pre-T by a longshot, but I can wear men's slacks and jeans just fine. Hard cardio (5+ hours a week) and weight-lifting 3x a week does wonders. I went with my mother to the OB/GYN and I was thinking how I just simply don't have significant hip fat. I have a definite female pelvic structure, but heavy exercise will account for a lot of shaping.
No women in my family have a weight problem, and this probably helps me. If you have some deposits that won't move, liposuction is always an option, but is really somewhat of a last resort.

I hate for it to get to the point where I need liposuction... especially since I'm not fat but my thighs are what really give me a female figure. I also read somewhere that liposuction for thighs is the worse place because the fat will end up there again within a few years.

Fat cells do not regenerate if completely removed. The problem with most WOMEN who get the surgery is that they tend to gain weight after liposuction because they slim down prior to surgery, and don't select a skilled surgeon. Maintaining weight is more important when you have any surgery removing fat tissue, because fat cells will expand if you gain, creating a "bulgy" look. A doctor also has to strive for a smooth surface, but that comes with surgical skill.
For those of us who went through puberty as biological females, we actually have a higher count of fat cells below the navel than biological males. Testosterone will shift how the weight is stored, but the number of cells remains the same. If you have a cisgender brother with a big butt, that's a good indicator it's going to be a struggle for you. With my limited knowledge of anatomy and physiology, I'd say get the rest of your body in check: Be in the physical condition you want to be in. Be on HRT a year or more. Get any necessary surgery. (Having top surgery will make an impact on your activity desire. I just had excess skin removed on my upper body, and I can't wait to eventually have top surgery. My energy level is indescribable.) I would not hesitate to have additional surgeries if I was unhappy at that junction, as a person who had "cosmetic" surgery after a more serious operation.
I'm taking a class on pharmo next semester, so I'm hoping to get some of my own remaining questions answered. Best of luck to you.
