Title: HRT at 32?
Post by: jill610 on May 23, 2010, 08:50:01 AM
I did a search and didn't find much.... so I'm 31 right now and if things go as I halfway expect them to, I'm hoping to start hrt in the fallish time.  That would put me just over to the next magical year.  I was wondering if someone who was in their early 30's could comment on how effective it was.  I know it all depends on individual chemistry and all that but just wondering what could be a reasonable expectation.

Thanks! ~*Jill*~

I started HRT when I was 30 (now 33) and the results have been decent. I have lost a fair amount of muscle mass (with some left to lose). My skin is much softer and less oily (as is the scalp). I've lost almost all of my body hair (I never had much, though). I don't have huge knockers, though, but that is to be expected. They are a decent size, I guess, but I have never actually measured them so I don't know the exact size.

Thanks for sharing Laura.  I have a fair amount of body hair :(  Hoping it will mostly fall out because shaving it kinda blows.

Try starting at 41.   I am happy with the results so far (small b cup) and hope that there is more to come.   Age can have an effect but plenty of us girls start later in life and get good results.

Also started at 41 and I am rather pleased with my results the last 7 months.

Started at 54 and so far acceptable.  At 2 years I still wish somethings would change, but all in due time.

I'm 32 and just started HRT, so we share the same concerns.  Optimism (not delusion) can go a long way, so keep your chin up and hope for the best. :)

I turned 33 this year. I think I have had pretty good results so far.

I've been almost 3 months on estrogen - 5 months or so on an antiandrogen.

I was really hairy too. The biggest changes in body hair have been the legs and chest so far. I still have hair, it is just thinner, shaving is much more effective now, less shadow, slower grow back etc...

ok, but you have done, laser hair removal and that helps a lot to the body and facial hair

Only on my face.

I mean I get no chest shadow now like I did before after shaving, and I get much better results shaving my legs now too.

But in terms of my face, I still have my side burns and have not treated them. But they have thinned considerably from hormones.

I'm about to start HRT (at 38) so it really is a case of fingers crossed.

Nicky, 3 months! Seriously,  you look great!

I started about a year ago when i was 32. I'm only on E at this point. My skin and face almost changed immediately. I still have alot of fur on the chest and legs, but again i'm only on E at this point. Androgen blocker are suppose to help with the hair or fur in my case. I was starting to have male pattern baldness in the back and a little receding hair line. Generic rogane has worked well enough still using it. Check amazon.com much cheeper than at the store.

Start getting your face hair removed asap. (i'm doing laser at the moment) This takes a long time and costs $$$. This is the only thing holding me back from going full time at this point.

I've also got nice B cup brests. Not as big as they should be but enough for me to pass. Genetics play a large role in this if your mom/have big ones you probably will also. Same goes for the butt.

I started hormones at 31 and I've had good results in the last 6months.  My face has changed loads, i'm nearly filling my bra now (a cup) and I think i've pretty much regained the small amount of baldnes I had on my head.
I'm on anti-androgens (androcur) as well as estrogen though.  I also had naturally high estrogen levels to so i'm not sure if my results are typical.

I started HRT right near my 33rd birthday.  It's been just over a year and the effects have been better than I expected, I guess.  Nothing miraculous, I'd say.  Boobs have been disappointing, body hair pretty much gone, just starting to get a hint of a figure, some effects on how my face is shaped believe it or not, and other less obvious things.  Actually, you can see the effects on my skin and face for yourself on this thread:

God, I need to take those pictures down...

Anyway, by far and away, the greatest effects have been with my emotional well-being, which was noticeable almost immediately.

I started HRT at 42. The effects have been drastic over the last few years. I'm very happy.

Jen you're so hot it's ridiculous. Don't take the pics down in that thread. Please.  :)

Also, Nicky is way too pretty for her own good.

i have nothing more to add to the thread besides being Self-Esteem Fairy.  *flutters away*

I started taking HRT around that age and have been disappointed with my results, but it can vary with each individual.

Aww that just made my day  :-*. Though I think it was just a good pic. I'll put a new one up soon.

I agree, jen is ridiculously hot. I've probably said it enough that she thinks I am a stalker...

I started when I was 26 or 27, but I weighed 220 pounds solid muscle, just out of the military. I'm 32 now and my muscles have totally shrunk, I'm now 160 lbs. Over all I'm pretty pleased with my results.

i started in the age of 30, antiandrogen for one year and estrogen in low dose for another year, changes  are obvious, breasts growth, thinning of body hair, and the good thing is that my head hair begins to regrow after using finasteride, i had to stop estrogen now, but iam on finasteride, iam happy with the results, waiting for chance to take estrogen again, iam on diet too, i think it may help my body to acquire the femine shape i am dreaming of.

Wow girls, thanks for so many awesome replies.  I'm thinking about asking my therapist for the letter so I can start antiandrogens soon.  I have a bit of a receding hairline, typical M pattern, and started using rogaine a few months back and it seems to be getting a tiny bit better.  But I'd sure love to get the T out of my system.

I'm very curious about the hair comments on chest and legs.  I currently shave arms, chest, legs and it's so obnoxious that it's back like the next day.  Ugh.  Does that get any better?

I guess I'm not hugely concerned about the boob development... my sister is a D and my mother is a DD so I'd be pretty happy with B's or implants  ;D  My wife is a D and I see the trouble she has so no thanks on the huge boobs!

Anyways, though I am really curious about the muscle atrophy.  I am 210lbs, and losing at a pretty good clip.  However, I am build fairly muscularly as I used to be a competitive speed skater and never really lost the muscle depite my current level of ..ahem... sedentariness.  I'm a size 10 but my thighs force me into 14s.  Ugh.

It does but epilating will always keepyou hairless for longer than shaving, it's a bit painful at first but worth it.

Ok so  I keep seeing "epilate" so I went out and bought an epilator.  OMG holy crap that hurts!  Yes it's smoother than a baby's rear... but my arm is one big red poofball now!  Oh well I suppose it's worth it if I can go a few weeks without shaving :)

Thanks for sharing, it is inspiring. You all look fantastic, I am beginning to think I will end up not totally unattractive myself.  Laser again next week, hurts but it will be worth it.
