I can't believe it.
On Sunday, I was at a gender dysphoria group get-together and when we were talking and alike, suddenly a male walked into the room. I looked and was like... Hmm... This is the first male I have seen here.
As he walked past me, I caught a tiny hint of his cologne and I nearly fell off my chair! It just smelt so good, it was totally intoxicating! I had the tiniest little taste and I wanted more! lol.
None the less, I came to the conclusion that he was gay, mainly because of how he spoke, the choice of words he had, how he moved and so on, I just had that feeling.
Later on I found out he was FtM! He totally passed SO WELL!

I had a thing for this guy once and he smelled so incredible, I don't know what cologne he wore but it was irresistible. Anyways, I was shopping at walmart one day and this random old guy was wearing his scent and I followed him from the bakery all the way to the lawn and garden department just because it reminded me of my guy.

I wish I knew what cologne he was wearing!
but yea, cologne works wonders.. one of my ex friends boyfriend.. I hugged him once.. and ok, he is ugly.. yes, its honest and blunt.. but when we hugged, he smelled SO good, it made him seem more attractive.

The funny thing about it was that colognes and perfumes stung my nose before HRT!

Yes, I'm another girl who likes cologne.
@ Uni, LOL, you made that old guy's day.
So those ads about cologne/perfume are for real, they really do capture our hearts. ;D

Jealous I only have a limited sense of smell due to complications from Rhino-septo-turboplasty surgery.

I can see where Lilacwoman said. For years people thought i was a ''Gay'' male how i spoke and everything but i wasn't. I know a lot of str8 men that talk feminine and have a lil switch to them but their str8. That's like saying all lesbians are all dykie and manly.

You people are hilarious. I think that there is part of why I post so little. At the slightest drop of the hat! The most innocent of off comments and it is like sharks to blood. The massive churn of water 'n' fighting amongst each other to gnaw at that piece of meat! Within the rules of course.... just like the sharks. heh
On topic I wish I could smell a cologne without my nose hurting. Most strong artificial smells have always driven me up a wall and made my stomach 'n' nose hurt from being around them to long. Must be pretty nifty to have a scent move you that strongly.

Quote from: MsGiselle on May 25, 2010, 07:55:54 AMThere's some (a lot of) overlap between effeminate gay male signaling and the forms of feminine gender expression that are socially-acceptable on a male-bodied person, so it's not at all surprising that a pre-everything MTF might be taken for a gay man. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is - FTMs have the opposite problem.
I can see where Lilacwoman said. For years people thought i was a ''Gay'' male how i spoke and everything but i wasn't. I know a lot of str8 men that talk feminine and have a lil switch to them but their str8. That's like saying all lesbians are all dykie and manly.
And it's not at all like saying "all lesbians are all dykie and manly." (talk about offensive stereotyping...that's the example you come up with?) No, it's like saying that butch women are likely to be lesbian. And they are. There are many different ways of signaling that one is a lesbian, but being butch is one of the most traditional ways, and if a woman adopts a particular sort of hypermasculine gender expression, most people will read her as lesbian. Lesbians and straight women alike know this.
Do people make mistakes when they're reading other people? Sure, we all have the occasional false positive ping on our gaydar, and there are an awful lot of false negatives. Research on code-switching shows that a lot of gays and lesbians (like members of other cultural-minority communities) are effectively 'bilingual', using one style of speech, body language, and expression among the 'family' and another more standard style at work or in straight-dominated environments. So a lot of the gay guys one runs into on a daily basis aren't talking or acting 'gay.' Doesn't mean that we can't, or that we never do, or that it would be inappropriate to read us as gay if we did.

I used to have a huge crush on this girl in high school who wore this particular Lynx/Axe spray. She smelt AMAZING. Then years later my male flatmate wore the same stuff...one night we were out bowling and the smell started wafting off him and I felt REALLY attracted to him. It was very confusing at the time lol.
