I'm currently watching a episode of true life that has a FTM, named Ted. Has anyone else seen this episode before? There is also a MTF named Elle, getting a surgery done to have female genitalia..
I really like that MTV did this, i love watching reality shows like this.

Some surgeons don't insist on a letter from every client, but I'm sure they take all sorts of factors into consideration. And I've heard (don't quote me on this) that Meltzer will waive the letter if your driver's license says "M" on it.

You may want to reconsider that. Surgeons who do good work on trans surgeries are few and far between, and if you are already spending thousands of dollars on this--something that will be a part of your body for the rest of your life--you should consider all of your options, even if it means spending a little extra on travel.
I thought about going to beverly fisher, or whats her name... i do have a friend in mass that i want to see anyway.. just a thought

I just watched the episode (Comcast has it on demand) and it was a good episode, but I have to say I definately was discouraged with my sister. She came in and sat down towards the end of it and asked me if Ted was a guy or a girl and I said he was a guy and she's like "is he going to grow his hair out?" and I asked what she meant and she was like "to look more like a girl" and so I said he was born a girl and she's like "oh, so she's a girl who wants to be a guy" and then she proceeded to call him she for the rest of the show even saying at one point "she really looks like a guy" like that was meant to be a compliment or something. Very discouraging, especially since I'm not out to my family at all. Doesn't look like I'm going to get much support from her...

I saw that episode to. To me it seems that mtfs have it 10 times easier when it comes to actually transitioning. The surgeries are cheaper and give better results. Teds mom is just like my mom kinda. She gave birth to a female and she named me and she ain't changing

If its a black guy named Ted...I actually know him in person. He's a performer in my area. Haven't seen the episode though. But he posts videos on a collaboration channel for transkings in my area, called OhioTransKingz on Youtube. You should check it out. I'm joining the channel and start posting videos Friday.

Thats what I meant surgically. But after they transition I'm sure you wouldn't have a clue they were even trans.

I'm bio female I have wide shoulders and large ribcage, rather large for a man. I also have a baritone voice and I wear a size 11 mens approx 13 in women in shoes.

For one I don't wanna be female. But well when I played dress up with my cousin i looked like a man in a dress. But what I'm getting at is that there are bio females built like men so why wouldn't a mtf pass after srs. When that girl off of true life walked down the sidewalk at the end I would have neve of guessed she was born a man.

Unfortunately, it is true that testosterone is a more powerful hormone than estrogen, and its effect on the body is not easily (or not at all in some situations) reversible. So, in technicality, we do have it easier with hormones but MTFs have it better with respects to surgery. Probably, an MTF who started on blockers prior to puberty has it best, actually. Hopefully there are more breakthroughs with respects to surgeries for us all.

True what I mean by srs is if someone where to question your identity you could prove it. If some stated a mtf post op wasn't a female if she striped u couldn't tell unless you did a pelvic exam. A post op mtf could walk into a publi locker room butt naked and idk but I do t think anyone would question her. In the showers most ppl arnt thinking weather someone is trans. If a ftm post op walked into a locker room naked ppl would no something is wrong.

You make a lot of sense. We apparently must live in different environments. Where I live if it appears that you have a vag then ur female regardless of what you look like. You can sport a full grown beard but if it doesn't dangle down there ur just a female with facial hair.
I think the difference in environment influences my views. The prothstetic is very true but after top surgery it leaves nasty scars and the nipples are all jacked up unless you happen to get a desent surgeron.
Looking at Ted I could clearly tell he must be trans based on the chest. I notice this with ftms that have had chest surgery and
have been healing for years.
Regardless we both have many obsticles. You don't have it any easier than me.
When I saw that true life episode it seemed that mtfs had it somewhat easier in regards to surgery.

but unless people already know that you were born female if you have a beard people aren't really looking for if you have a dick. That's what passing is. No one can see your vagina or penis when you are walking down the street clothed.
