hi
i want to ask about something
i was on estrogen for the last year with finasteride, i have stopped estrogen for last two or three monthes, but still on finasteride i have banded my testicules for a few times, after quitting estrogen, iam experiencing the soften of the skin and the disappearing of body hair, and my head hair begins to grow, is this normal in absence of estrogen, or have i been fully castrated
please help
thanks in advance

Well, it can take awhile for your testosterone production to kick back in after stopping estrogen.
I don't think chemical castration actually stops you from producting testosterone, otherwise you would only need to have a short course of antiandrogens untill your body can't produce T anymore.
You might be sterile, but probably can still produce T. It just takes a bit to get back into gear.
Of course the finasteride will still be reducing your DHT, so if you had some Male Patern Baldness it will still be helping to reverse some of this.
But seriously, get a blood test. That will tell you everything. Or ask an endo.
I don't know what banded your testicules means but is sounds painful...

Infact it's the most painful and disfiguring method of castration there is if you go the full way with it. A tight rubber band is applied to the scrotum and circulation to a portion of the scrotal sac, and the testical/s enclosed within. If applied for 24-48 hours the whole area becomes necrotic and can be removed without pain.
It would depend on how long they banded there testis for, whether they were damaged or not.
I researched it when I went through a phase prior to starting HRT where I wanted to castrate myself so I wouldn't have to endure T anymore.

you mention sterile
do you think it might take time to begin formation of sperms again

As you were on HRT for a year it is highly unlikely that you will produce viable semen in the future.

Quote from: ifonlyican14 on June 10, 2010, 12:01:13 PMIt's because sperm and T producing cells come from two different linages that are effected differently by HRT

Every non-cancerous cell in the body needs a number of growth factors in order to live. Without these factors coming from somewhere else in the body the cell will die.
Leydig Cells are the Cells that produce T There population number is isn't largely effected by HRT they maybe killed off somwhat and there function is inhibited but the cells survive in the Testis.
Sertoli Cells need Testosterone normally sourced from the Leydig cells, without T they begin to die and are not replaced. these cells are critical for the Spermatogonium without them the sperms produced will be of poor quality immature, Genetically damaged, malformed, ect ect ect
Depending on how long you were exposed to HRT will influence how many Sertoli cells and Spermatogonium were lost because after a certain length of time there number is just too far gone to be replaced. When this happens you will become Azoospermic permanently. This time limit is generally accepted to be about 6 months.
After a year Your body may produce inhibited levels of T but can no longer can it produce useful sperm.
