Title: Breast Freak Out!

I am freaking out! I was off hormones for 6 weeks and while I was in hospital getting srs I lost a little weight... I also lost a cup size and despite the fact that a week ago I had my first post op estrogen shot and I'm back on my progesterone they seem to be shrinking still! I am really scared. I was only a B cup but I was happy with my breasts. They are now shrinking and they look deformed as well. Did anyone else experience this? Did they stop shrinking? Did they start growing again? It may be a internalised transphobic sentiment but I feel like my breasts are the only thing naturally female that I had and this is really messing up my head.
Thanks
Wendy
Thanks
Wendy

I'm pretty sure they will grow again once your body adjusts to the change and the estrogen that it had been missing. Watch, you'll probably end up with a c-cup :) I would just relax and let your body do it's thing, it knows what it's doing. I've been manipulating my body through diet and exercise since I was 13 and have experienced some pretty crazy stuff with that alone. You'll be fine!
Other than that, I guess the op was a success and you are satisfied with everything?

first of all congrats Wendy on your surgery! I hope it all went well. I actually lost quite a bit of weight while in the hospital. The last weight I have gained over the past few months has all gone to my breasts and backside, so I think it's natural to lose a little breast size just because of that, andthe fact that all your energy is now going towards healing more than growing breasts. I was off my E just under 4 weeks altogether. Since my surgery I have been really eating a lot of high protein foods and drinks, and after being back on hormones just a week I seem to be experiencing a little breast growth, especially now that there is nothing to prevent it.
Also remember that hormones are a long term thing, so being off for a few weeks is not going to make a great difference. Some of it may be psychological too- I know going off just for that short time really did a number on my head.
Anyways, I'm sure you'll be fine- just give it a bit of time :)

You mentioned that you lost weight. Breast shrinkage is a common weight loss complaint among women. Breasts have a lot of fat in them and rapid weight loss can cause them to 'deflate' as it were. They will go back to normal as your weight does. I wouldn't worry. Once breasts grow, it's very hard for them to 'ungrow'. :)

You make a good point. I noticed some breast loss through my own exercise and nutrition program--the tissue was there, but the fat was not. I had eliminated all sources of starchy foods and most fats for the exception of healthy oils. I've been sustaining myself primarily on vegetables, fish and eggs--no meat, dairy or junk. After noticing a reduction in breast size, I decided to add some breads, starches and whole grains to my diet. With just that little addition alone, I've noticed a significant increase to the fullness of my breasts as well as around my hips. Also, in preparation for my time off hormones, Ive added soy and tofu which are high in phytoestrogens to my diet. I was considering adding flax seed which is very high in phyto's, but the fat content is through the roof

I'm taking flax seed oil daily as part of my vitamin/nutrition regimen for healing. A teaspoonful has about 5g of fat but it contains the omega-3 fatty acids that are good for you. It also has an added "softening" benefit which is sometimes necessary after all this we are putting our bodies through lol

Hmmm. I was wanting to make flax seed muffins and when I read the nutritional info I saw that 1 cup has 71g of fat. Recipe calls for 1.5 cups. To double that would be 213g of fat. Sounds a little rich for me, but I guess it depends on how much goes into each muffin. Add to that the sugar and milk--4 cups--but I guess I could always go skim
I just read that flax seed is a strong anti inflammatory which is good

well yeah I'm only taking a teaspoonful of the straight oil twice a day so only 10g altogether, nothing like a cup and a half lol (but the muffins sound yummy!) ;)

The good news is that there is some evidence that not only will they bounce back (pun intended ;) ) but that they may even get bigger post-op.
