Title: Stiches
Post by: alex408 on July 24, 2010, 10:57:26 PM
I don't know why, but my stitches aren't dissolving correctly.  I had peri/keyhole 2 months and 2 weeks ago and I've still got stitches sticking out around my nipple.  About 3 weeks ago I email my surgeon a picture and she said to just cut them short and they'll eventually dissolve.  But that's not the case.  As the swelling is going down and the scabs come off, more stitches are reviled.  The ones that I cut 3 weeks ago never dissolved.  Skin just grew over them and left pretty decent sized bright pink bumps where they were. You can feel and faintly see the stitches that are now in these bumps.  What the hell? She initially said these would take 6 weeks to dissolve, but like I said. It's been 10 or 11 weeks and my scars are looking funky because the damn stitches are underneath

I would defintiely call the doctor back and let her know what is going on. I had one that did not disolve but I was able to pull on it and take the whole thing (what was left of it) out. Mine was still visible, had not been covered in skin yet. Also this is what my doc told me to do. Definitley call your doc and see what she says you should do, 10 or 11 weeks seems like a long time.
