Title: Another question from me....
Post by: Britney♥Bieber on July 28, 2010, 04:56:08 AM
:embarrassed: Sorry I feel like every two seconds, I'm posting another thread asking a question! This time, I'm just curious, do you lose weight when you are on HRT? I'm just curious, because I know the fat content changes and moves around, but I know boys have more muscle mass than girls. Will that change? Do you lose muscle and gain fat? :( I don't want to be a fat girl! :(

depends on how much you eat I guess - and indeed how low your T level drops.

Upside of having no T is huge boobs and positively no need for a Breast Augmentation op.

Downside is that whilst definitely curvy with a good female shape I am also rather ample.

It's a balancing act, if you don't put on some fat you wont get a nice female shaped butt, hips and boobs... on the other hand I am living proof that that process can go too far - and it's a lot easier to put on than to take back off. Especially when your measured T is zero.

Hi gorgeous

You lose muscle I know you are young but depending how young you may interrupt muscle and male bone development. I do not wish to know your age BTW.
Most females have far lower upper body strength in particular. Hence the old 'can you open the jar for me' comment. Most females also have lower overall muscular strength so the diverseness in running and stamina records. Muscle build etc is partially due to testosterone, this is why many sports cheats try to increase their testosterone levels illegally. But too much T is long term bad for anyones health.

Depending how young you are and the balance of "male and female" hormones during puberty may affect your body shape. Young people with a female XY on female hormones may develop hip flair and develop normal breasts. Never now until you go.

But I give opinion not advice

Aww thanks Cindy! :P I'm 19 btw so I'm hoping for good HRT results. I hope I can start before the end of this year! The only thing I would be really upset about is not getting big ish boobs from hrt. I don't want to have to get implants =/

This is why its pays to have enlightened parents and live in the Netherlands - they have a specialist gender clinic that deals with minors.... (i.e. persistent dysphoria presentations in children).... and oft with distraught families seeking help...

The strategy (as far as I understand it) is to put the child in sexual developmental stasis.... around pre-pubescent time...... and then as they hit there later, older teens help them via correct identity identification by moving them onto a new body gender through hormonal intervention....

The outcomes (physically) as always.... are far better addressed pre fully-developed.... this would affect F-t-M's more so as girls tend to be through the process far faster as soon as they menarche... in the west (with high fat diets) this can be as young as 11...

Being an uber masculine-male brain wise...with small stature, small hands, feet and breasts and wide hips ain't gonna be easy.... so spare a thought for them......eh?

But if you start HRT post main pubertal development when your skeleton is pretty much fixed.... then it will be your genetics (or lack of androgen ones) that come to your aid... if yous be lucky!

Only time and patience will tell...

Implants are fairly routine and safe now, if you get a great surgeon and opt for sensible small ones... few should be able to tell especially if they put them in under the arm-pit and muscle wall...

But yuff is defo in yer favour missy..... so have faith in that...eh sweet pee?

I don't mind if they look fake, I mean I don't want it either, I just don't want another surgery to have to add to my list. SRS is going to be a big enough expense as it is.

I have lost 30 lbs since I started my transition. Without even trying, all I did was stop drinking so much (very sweet) coffe and cut down my meal portions.

It's one of those genetic lotteries I fear.

It helps if your family are mostly ample - my mother was a 36 C cup - I'm a 38 F.

But to get the optimum development you do need to eat HEALTHY amounts and not worry if your waistline also expands a little bit. You don't have to go as mad as I did... but if you do opt for the skinny bean pole figure then the boobs simply won't happen without BA.

Personally I'd rather be fat and have natural bits, than thin and full of silicone, but each to their own.  And my partner would tell you the reverse - and I have to admit she does look fab! (mind you I'm biased) So just be aware of the possibilities and make your choice. :)

I am in my third week or HRT now, and I suppose that HRT has little effect with my body weight. For the first week I lost around 3 kilos of weight, and my body sored badly ... but for the second week and third week, everything just became usual. So I might suggest that hormones has not substantially affected my weight.

However, I have noticed that my body shape has changed a lot during these weeks. My breasts were growing, the fat redistributed to my thighs, and it seems that I was beginning to have the curvy hourglass shape. I have lost quite a lot of physical strength though. Yet again, no great progress on the weight for me.

I am in my early twenties, so I suppose that my body structure might still be somehow flexible.. by the way, have you started hormones already?

Something that should also be kept in mind is proper diet and exercise. If you eat healthy and get your heart rate up (treadmills etc. are great) you can keep decent muscle tone, lower unwanted body fat, but still not hinder ample enough fat content to get a more feminine shape. The only problem is, natal males don't have hips as wide as a females, so development in that area isn't usually going to be the same as a natal female. Basically you shouldn't end up a "fat chick" unless you overeat and don't move around, just like anyone else, trans or not.

Of course, I'm not speaking from absolute fact, everyone reacts to hormones, diet and exercise differently! Besides, even if you only end up with A or B breasts, is that really a bad thing? Pushup padded bras can go a long way without having to resort to possibly risky and unnecessary surgery. Breast development, even in natal girls, often takes several years to complete so don't get discouraged and get implants within the first year as your natural breasts will not be done growing in yet! I have heard that trans women often get impatient and then get implants way too soon only to have a sudden growth spurt, then they end up getting the implants removed or replaced with smaller ones.

I personally would just let the hormones work their magic for at least a year. Eat well, exercise, and see what happens. =]

No matter what, being healthy should be priority number one!

I had my BA and SRS together in Thailand, 3k, added to 9k, not that much when you consider travel costs, etc.

As women carry less muscle and more fat than men, it is much harder to maintain a lean figure especially as we age. I remember consulting with my doctor, a woman, and complaining how hard it was to lose and maintain ideal weight, she said, "Welcome to the club!"

Post Merge: July 28, 2010, 11:55:18 AM

"A person's body fat percentage is the total weight of the person's fat divided by the person's weight and consists of essential body fat and storage body fat. Essential body fat is necessary to maintain life and reproductive functions. The percentage for women is greater than that for men, due to the demands of childbearing and other hormonal functions. Essential fat is 1-3% in men, and 8–12% in women[1]. Storage body fat consists of fat accumulation in adipose tissue, part of which protects internal organs in the chest and abdomen."

Well I'm sure my boobs will be the size I want. My mom and sisters have really big boobs. And really big butts too haha.

Nooo :( I'm barely in my third week of therapy but I don't think it's going to take the full three months to get my letter. I'm crossing my fingers. I hope to be on HRT by the end of the year. :(

At the risk of sounding shallow THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE! :( Mainly because my body is too big that a or b would just look so small on me. But I'm still losing weight!! I've found that when I diet & exercise, I usually do like 500+ calories burned on the treadmill when I do exercise, I don't lose weight. But when I just diet I lose weight super fast. I just...have trouble dieting for more than a day :(

Thanks dear but everyone thinks I look thin because I'm good at taking flattering pictures. Plus I'm not FAT I'm just a little over average. But my weight is a little over the "healthy weight" for a boy my height and ever more so since I gained 10 lbs this summer :( My worries just comes from my stomach. When I started losing weight last year, my only goal was to have a flat stomach and 55 lbs later, it's still not flat. People tell me I'm fine now but I disagree. So I'm worried if my stomach isn't flat now, it'll get bigger with fat moving around. :(

omg that sucks. It's hard enough not getting fat now. :( I mean it's not a bad thing but I just don't feel happy about my body and I think a lot of that is dysphoria that I didn't recognize when I thought I was just a gay guy. So the sooner I get on hrt the better I'll be. :P I'm just waiting it out =/

I don't exercise but I also don't over eat, and I eat just when I'm hungry.

That's what I'm trying to start doing again. It's kinda hard when I have NOTHING to do but sit around the house and eat :( So I try so stay in my room and not eat lol. I'm not hungry so I shouldn't eat.

I know! my default state was to fall back to eating whenver I had nothing to do or even when I did but just needed the emotinal comfort (cause food is yummy  ;D)

I really don't have food on my mind anymore, maybe the HRT affected my appetite?

But I also kind of experimented, and this was way before HRT, like I would buy/cook/get a whole meal but eat like a tiny bit of it and leave the rest. I soon realized huh I'm okay and it made me less psychologically addicted to nom-noms.

Everyone here gave you a good answer.  Cindy James gave you a great answer.

You are young.  You are thin.  You are enthusiastic.  These traits bode very well for your transition.  You should be able to "rock your own world" and do an awesome transition!  Heck, I kind of envy you!  I was your age in ... hold your breath ... 1974/early-mid-1975!  (Good Lord, Mrs. Calabash, NOBODY is THAT old!)  The Renee Richards era.  I would have given my left nut (... and my right one too! ...) to transition at 19!!!

Anyway:

When you start your hormone replacement therapy, should you decide to actually do that, I would recommend that you start working out (Any time is a great time to start doing that!) mixing anaerobic (weights) with aerobic (sports) exercise.  BOTH are necessary to be buff and toned.

I was extremely buff ... before hormone replacement therapy.  Now, I'm losing that.  Of course, age is a huge factor in my case.  No one can stay the Hand of God.  However, I have committed dietary sins celebrating my transition and my move (Pacific Northwest)!

Looking at your picture, you are a genetic ecto-mesomorph ... meaning you are WAY blessed!  Common Sense:  "Eat less; move more."  That's weight management in a nutshell.  Of course, eat for taste AND nutrition and moderate junking out.

Rock on!

Hi Honey,
Thing about being bored is that you are not doing stuff, sounds stupid but OK. TG people have a big advantage in life, we don't always know it and we most certainly don't often appreciate it. To be us, we have to face up to the fact that we have to go out and do stuff that most people would be terrified of.

Seeking help. Dressing in a manner that the common public may not understand. Changing our genitals. Changing our names. etc etc.

All of this needs courage. We read on this and in other places how tough some of us are doing it. How depression can wipe us out. How we may be suicidal. But just think. Most of us have overcome these problems or have found ways to deal with them. How strong does that make us? You have faced these exact problems and are emerging as the beautiful young girl that we have come to know.

So use those strengths. Use them for the positive. Go out and actively seek a job. Go to retail shops and fill in forms for being a sale assistant, anything. Go out and do it. I had a choice this week between hiring 4 people I interviewed for a job in a diagnostic laboratory. The choice was hard because I didn't need experience and the four people were well presented and very nice. One person stood out, he had a part time job in an area he didn't like, and told me he had applied for jobs in pathology but was always up against the experience factor. The other three didn't have jobs as they were waiting for 'their' job to appear.

Guess who I employed.

The boundaries are drawn by you. No one else. Tell me next week of how many jobs you applied for. And of course go as girl.

Hugs

Cindy

I've gained a stone since starting hormones I'm trying to loose some of the weight and I'm doing that by cutting the sweeties I would take too many of after an electrolysis session. :P So now it's 1 lollipop.

And yeah dispute it only begin 1 stone it's gone nearly exclusively to my ass and hips and a tiny minipot belly and love handles (My hipline has expanded 4inches! I BROKE MY JEANS)There was a time in my life I weighed 13 stone and even then my abdomen wasn't this big and fatty. It was kind of distributed all over my body then.

I need to find another area to apply in cuz I've mostly covered the whole town that is close to me. I guess I didn't get all of the businesses, if I'm being honest. It's just hard cuz when I go out applying and then I apply for like 20 places and don't get called on one of them it makes me think it's not worth it idk. Hopefully my friend can get her job to hire me, since they are hiring right now. :P But I kinda feel a bit more motivated, so I'll go out and apply soon. And are you suggesting I go applying for jobs dressed as a girl? I can't do that yet I haven't even started hormones yet! No way I'd be able to pass and I'm not sure how safe that would be in this area =/
