First-ever transgender community career expo to be held during Atlanta's Southern Comfort Convention, Sept. 12-15 (http://www.hrcbackstory.org/2007/09/first-ever-tran.html)
The Career Expo will be held:
* Friday, September 14
* 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Crowne Plaze Ravinia Hotel
* 4355 Ashford Dunwoody Road
* Atlanta, GA 30346
This landmark transgender career expo deserves cheers all around, as it's truly a sign of progress. As our newest Corporate Equality Index report indicates, the number of Fortune 500 companies that have put in place non-discrimination policies that include protections for transgender workers has quadrupled since last year. Still, we know that the transgender community often faces the most intense discrimination -- and there is currently no federal civil rights employment protection for transgender individuals. But, we're working to change that by passing the inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).
