Ulster's former top civil servant admits he was "shocked" but in no way ashamed when his son Timothy revealed he wanted to be known as Tanya.

Wow - courageous man!
I don't think even my supportive parents would have come out as openly in the press like that. I wish more parents were so brave.

Bloomfield sounds like an alright guy. my only issue is, when I read the post title, I assumed FtM. I'm glad that the guy loves and accepts his daughter, but whenever I hear the whole, "my son is living as a women" it kind of hurts to think that even if I get everything in motion for myself, and transition, people won't really see me as a man. They'll see me as a transsexual, and that's not what I want. =(
