Something happened to mine and it will be a while before I get another one but wearing sports bras make me want to die. So advice would be good.

I've used Ace bandage and a waist trimmer prior to buying a binder.
Ace bandage slips if you don't wear a shirt under it and you have to be very careful about how tight you wrap it.
The waist trimmer worked good, but kinda fell apart within a month or so. It didn't slip and it binded well, but it got SWEATY from the rubber side that goes against your body.

I hear some people have used back braces and girdles...no experience with those though.

Depends on your chest size with this one, but I've used duct tape..
I don't strongly suggest it though, because it is painful.. and bad for your skin.
But hey, weigh the pros and cons between an ace I guess.

What kind of binder did you use before and what size?
Alternatives would be those bandage wrap things. You can usually find them at a drug store since they're used to help sprains and the like. You can DIY with some spandex shorts, just cut out the crotch and fix up the legs for arm holes.

I hope you don't mind me butting in here, but please don't use duck tape on your skin, especially the sensitive, soft skin.
When you take it off, and you must, it can quite easily tear away huge chunks. The sort of chunks that will need an urgent trip to the emergency room.
I once saw a girl put duck take on her face, over her mouth. She was trying to make a point. What it did to her cheek, when she tried to remove it, was very nasty.
Also, it doesn't tend to come off very easily even under running water.
I hope you know that I and I'm sure everyone else here, know the pain you feel. I read the posts about binding and understand how important this is to you.

I second the duck tape comment only because I've used it a few times and it REALLY hurts for days afterward even if you cut it off or try to take it off after getting it thoroughly soaked. My best experience with non binder was using an ace bandage which I used for a while though it is painful if done too tight or worn too long. I heard someone suggest bondage tape a couple weeks ago on another site and have been looking into it because it sticks to itself and not the skin. Sorry to ask a slightly off topic question but does anyone have opinions on using bondage tape? Hope you manage to get a binder soon. Oh and i've heard of people cutting biker shorts? Maybe that would work for you.

I used to do the same thing people have suggested with the bike shorts, but with control top pantyhose instead. I have found some that were high waisted so they doubled as a girdle (when worn as intended anyway).
What worked best for me was to wear a tight tank top, then use an ace bandage that was safety pinned to the tank top at the start so it stayed in place better, and then the cut down pantyhose on top. The pantyhose worked well to keep everything smoothed down and in place.

Here's an idea, that im just throwing out there... im just saying... what about put on a sports bra then use tape over it to bring em down, this way you don't put the tape against your skin?...

i am an XS too.
i went to target and got the KIDS smallest size bustier or whatever you call these things:

I use sports compression shirts from Wal-Mart, $10. Or cheaper since I've found quite a few at Salvation Army and Goodwill. If it's the kind with sleeves, I cut those out, as well as making the neck hole bigger. The tank style is best but harder to find. I usually have to layer two or three, with the bottom one doubled up.
