I'm not really sure where to post this, but I'm excited about it so here it goes:
When I first met with my therapist she asked me if I was considering any names. I told her the one I'd been thinking about, but I continued to go by my girl name. But today when she called me to confirm my next appointment she started out by saying "Hello [Male name] this is Dr. [Lastname]..." And it felt awesome. Like, I had this big dumb grin on my face that I had to pass off as being excited for dinner because it wouldn't go away. lol
So, what was it like for you the first time someone used your chosen name?

the first time in particular that my name had been used was by my brothers very pro LGBT girlfriend. she kept calling me Elijah, he, and brother.
it was fantastic, a little strange to get used to, it was so new, but it was very nice.
and congrats on your therapist doing that :P

I got my name changed legally at the end of July, and I came out at work at the same time. Being called Lewis by all my colleagues is just fantastic. I noticed the other day that one of my colleagues has a post-it note on his computer reminding him "[Old name] = LEWIS!" Just so he doesn't forget.
Now if I can just get my husband to remember. *rolls eyes*

@Farm Boy, congrats! I bet it's a great feeling =]
I'm on the search to find a name that fits me, but I've been going by Alex or Lex for awhile. Most people don't use my birth name anymore, because the transition between Alexa and Lex/Alex isn't too hard. I'd more prefer people to get the pronouns right, lol. As far as finding a new name, I'm thinking about trying out Aven.. and I know that I want my middle name to be Micah.

Lewis- Ha, the sticky note thing is great! It's nice to have people make an effort.
Lex- It was! And my name just came sorta naturally to me, as it's a form of my given name. Haven't found a middle name yet, though.
