As some of you might already know, I have a nine month old son and he is breastfed.  Although it's dysphoria inducing at times, I really feel like he is the reason I was given a girl's body in the first place.

I'm wondering, do any of you know if taking T while breastfeeding would affect that at all?  I mean, I know it relocates some breast fat but as far as I know it doesn't affect the breast tissue at all.  Also, I know what you eat certain things it can be passed on through the milk.  I was thinking though, if your body is producing estrogen wouldn't that be passed on through the milk?  If not, then why would T be passed on but not naturally produced estrogen?  Obviously I wouldn't want to give him a crazy early puberty or anything like that.

For quite a while I've been thinking that I'll just wait until he's weaned before even seeking it out.  It's hard to predict when that'll happen though.  Maybe I should go about getting my letter now so that when he's weaned I can get it right away?

I don't know... any thoughts on the matter?

A niece, who is breast feeding claims that the food she eats affects her milk. She's pretty savvy and wouldn't say such a thing otherwise.

But this Wikipedia article says that hormone contraceptives are passed into breast milk and a number of other things.

One of the problems getting decent information on this issue is the insistance that breast feeding be always promoted positively.

Yes, breast is best. It is free, ready made and on tap when needed. Moreover, since you made the baby, the milk is his anyway. But I don't want to get into any debate over mother's rights.

This really sounds like a question for your Dr or midwife. Failing that, a decent pharmsist.

lots of horror stories online about mother's and cow's milk both being contaminated with all sorts of potentially harmful stuff including ominous claims of gender bending chemicals.
But those stories mostly concern minute traces so you need to know about directly taking large doses of T.

Then the Norwegians come along with a T spin of their own.  Says taking T might stop your milk anyway so maybe baby will be happy with a bottle and early weaning.

Would you want to take any risks with your sons health for the sake of a few extra months on T?

Don't do it.

I personally won't be taking T until my baby is off the milk. I wouldn't risk it.

Hell you're even recommended to avoid caffeine because it passes over.
