Does anyone have Aetna health insurance?and was approved while taking T and got top surgery covered? How long did you waited, from the time of the approval, to request top-surgery?
I'm not sure if I will get denied because I've been on T for 5 months....

Is it actually listed in your policy?
They don't cover my T, but that's fine. They only cover transdermal T. They sent me a book after I called and asked them, and with top surgery, you have to meet their criteria. And as I'm finding out, not alot of the major top surgeons accept insurance. I could be wrong about that, but not those that I'm interested in. PM me if you want the link for the criteria.
I'm trying my damnedest to get top surgery covered by them, and doing it with the help of my therapist.

My policy explicitly excludes anything gender identity related.

I've got Aetna and have learned through trying to navigate their system that they actually offer hundreds of actual insurance plans. Yours may or may not cover gender-related treatments, and the only way to find out is to call. (FWIW, mine covers gender-related stuff up to a certain monetary amount and doesn't care if the patient is FTM, MTF, or something else as long as the doctors involved make the recommendation for surgery/hormones/therapy.) How long you'll have to wait probably depends more on your doctor than the insurance policy itself, as doctors can call in demanding that certain things be approved faster if they feel it's necessary.
