Title: Embedding YouTube videos

We used to be able to embed YouTube videos just by posting the link, has that changed or been disabled with the new format?

You still just insert the link and it should show up.

It's in the thread I made titled 2 HBO Films, under movies.
What seems to be happening is that I insert the link properly but the forum is adding URL code to it after I click post.

We need to figure out this problem. It seems that there are several people who can't embed videos. I tried posting one of Paul's videos using the same text and it works for me but not for him.
So I have a question for all the geeks here. When someone embeds a video, where exactly does the embedded player come from? Does it come from the website where the video is sourced, or does it come from the person's browser? If I knew the answer to that question, it would be a lot easier to track down the source of this embedding problem.

the forum software auto-parses the resulting page to capture/embed the flash container (web app) used to playback video

I did a search on the Simple Machine Forums web site and did a search of YouTube.
I believe that this forum is lacking a special feature called the YouTube BBCode, but it is depreciated and has been replaced by Aeva (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=977).

A regular link is coded such:
[url=http://www.google.com/]Google me![/url]
Google me! (http://www.google.com/)
Here is a YouTube link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0DPdy98e4c
There does seem to be a problem here.
The preview of the YouTube looks fine, but upon actual posting the link gets rewritten.

Or when you put the url inside some other BBCode that fools the rewriter.

testing, because I couldn't post a vid except the link.
Using the [ b]....[ /b] trick:
Removing the [ b]...[ /b]:
Note the changes: ("URL=" added, and title; I didn't type those in)
[ url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrVWF3z1jTc&feature=feedlik#]Backwards fetishistic legal idiocy[/url]
Removing everything after the "&":
Backwards fetishistic legal idiocy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrVWF3z1jTc#)
I notice that a "#" symbol was added to where the "&" symbol used to be, and the "Backwards fetishistic..." text was added.
Backwards fetishistic legal idiocy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrVWF3z1jTc#)
fwiw, I'm using Firefox 4.0.1 and Windows XP.
