Ehlers thought her nightmare was over three weeks ago when Labour Court judge Ellem Francis ordered the steel retailer to reinstate her as a sales representative.

Francis, who will hear the appeal application, found that Bohler Uddeholm Africa had unfairly and unconstitutionally dismissed Ehlers.

Francis ruled that Ehlers, 43, appointed to her job as a man, was fired because she had begun a series of sex-change procedures.

Not sure how the courts there work, but surely, if the company appeals, takes 18 months about it, then looses, they will have to pay her back pay for the whole time?

As frustrating as it is for this woman, the due process of law must apply to everyone.
