Austria has seen a second case of a once male teacher set to return after the summer holidays to school as a woman.
Viennese polytechnic college professor Walter S. infuriated some parents and colleagues by revealing last week he has undergone a sex change surgery recently. The federal education ministry however gave the green lights for the 58-year-old's plans to teach in women's clothes calling himself Andrea.

I understood it that he took a portion of the article as a teaser to the link. In which case, it's the journalist who made the error.
That's just my spin on things.

Correct Rob!
There is a standard format for these news section articles which involves a headline. A quick summary, and then quoting the first paragraph of the article verbatim. The guidelines can be found here https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,12805.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,12805.0.html)
:police: Now Lilac,
You have obviously read the article that zythyra quoted, as you were able to quote it's ending. So I in turn, now wonder why you seem to feel the need to try and stir things when you are already on watched status. Be careful - watched means what it says and snipping at administrators and moderators will not help your cause.
This is just a friendly unofficial tip off by the way, I really wouldn't push the boundaries and think that no one notices or cares if I were you or eventually you may come badly unstuck. All the staff here are very dedicated to maintaining a cordial and friendly site for everyone. :police:
Thank you for your attention. I now return you to the thread.

Actually, the last line is a comment made by someone in the UK on the Austrian article.
Zythyra is kind enough to quote the first two paragraphs of the article in the post so that we can decide whether to read the linked article. She does not edit the paragraphs but copies them. Do not attack her for doing the excellent job that she does.
Rule 15: Items under discussion shall be confined to the subject matter at hand, members shall avoid taking the other users posts personally, and/or posting anything that can reasonably be construed as a personal attack.
Let's keep to the topic.

There's been a high-level talkshow on the Austrian TV the other day about transsexuality the evening of her first day at work, and she also took part in it. Things seem to have turned out well for her, and she got lots of flowers and congratulations from colleagues etc. She makes a very good impression, mature, thoughtful, really nice person. (The other talkshow guests are fine as well). I hope things will go on being okay for her.
It will still be online for a couple of days to watch (it's in German):

As more people, especially those in higher profile positions and those with higher education, become accepted, they can demonstrate that being transgendered is normal for some people.
That can only be a good thing for everyone.

Lilacwoman,
I didn't write that article. When I write my own blog posts, I am extremely careful to use correct pronouns that correspond with how a person identifies. As others have surmised, when I post news articles here, I generally quote a couple of paragraphs from articles as a teaser. Then folks can decide if they want to click the link and read more.
