So here's where I'm at.
I've been going to therapy and seeing a certain doctor for almost a year for depression and anxiety issues. Anyhow back in May I decided it was time to get this show on the road and see about HRT. So I came out to my therapist and told her that most of these issues were gender related, and she's like.. lets get you into see a specialist then. However to get to a specialist I have to get a referal from a doctor.. and living in mormon country, finding a doctor that would refer me was going to be a hard endevor. Sooooo after some searching, I found a list of doctors that are approved by the WPATH in dealing with Trans. And wouldn't you know it, my doctor happened to be the only one in the region. Soo.. my appointment is on Friday to ask about starting HRT (RLE?)/and or getting a referal to a Psych that will start me.
however.. I'm wondering how do I bring it up. I figured that I'd tell him about how since I started RLE on my own.. I haven't been depressed or anxious anymore.. I was severely before, but now.. I'm so good I often forget to take my meds - because I don't need them. Other people have nboticed a huge change in my confidence levels and such..
good way to bring this up or no?

Congrats & good for you!
I so would love to help but I have only just begun the journey ... haven't even had my first counseling appointment.

Very simple. Open mouth and ask for it. If they can not help ask who you can see. Worked with my doctor.

he might not draw the correct inference between taking medication and feeling better.
drop 'gender worries' into the first sentence or two to start out right.
My own opening line was 'I want to know about sex change.'

I just plainly said "I'm transgendered and wanted to ask you about starting the steps to get hormone treatment"

i figured it might help.. well I planned on dropping gender issues right in at the beggining and telling him that since I've come to terms with it.. my depression and anxiety levels are pretty much not on the board anymore..
he's been treating my depression and stuff for a while now and knows me.. We never bothered with putting out a root cause - he just treated it for the symptoms.. so if I can point to the cause now.. and show him how I've been dealing better.. I donno. maybe it'll be easier?
gah... not too long now.
