Title: Mini Exchange Fun Time!

Time for the next exchange! For the sake of people who are presently adjusting to the new semester of classes (or who just have less art stamina), this one is going to be a Mini Exchange to give people a bit of a rest.
Since this is a mini exchange, you won't be expected to do a full-blown shading-and-background picture. However, you do have an entire month to work on this, so I do expect more than sketchy headshots from people. Try to aim for something to the effect of an unshaded full-body or shaded partial-body shot (or something roughly equivalent). Also, keep this in mind when you're making your requests—try to ask for something people can actually draw a mini picture of... it's difficult to do a mini picture of a request that involves 3 intricate characters and a complex background.
What is an Art Exchange?
Sounds like fun, right? And the boost the exciting-factor, we now have an (optional) theme: Fantasy! However, if you don't care for fantasy but still want to participate, fear not! You are welcome to interpret the theme in whatever way you want or simply not adhere to it at all-- it's intended to boost inspiration, not block it. You are encouraged to participate in the theme to add to the community fun, but you are by no means required and shouldn't feel guilty if the current theme isn't quite your thing.
Additionally, we now have a system in place to hopefully prevent AWOL artists:
There is now a participant list at the bottom of this post. Participants who have finished their art will have their names bolded. Approximately a week before the deadline, anyone who still hasn't sent in their art will receive a friendly reminder via PMs from me.
If someone still hasn't finished their art by the deadline, they will have to sit out the next exchange unless they have a valid excuse for not being able to finish. ("I had art block/was busier than I expected" is not a valid excuse; "I was kicked out of my house/grounded from the computer/hospitalized" is a valid excuse.)
A substitute will then be called in to draw for the person that participant was supposed to draw for. The substitute will then have a week to draw a replacement picture. People willing to be contacted as a possible substitute can make note of this in their initial sign-up posts—this does not obligate you to substitute. It just means you are open to the possibility and willing to be contacted about it.
If at some point you do realize you are unable to draw for the exchange, please tell me sooner rather than later, since the sooner I find out, the more efficiently I can remedy the problem!

What is an Art Exchange?

Just because the theme isn't fantasy doesn't mean you can't draw fantasy stuff! Usually there are at least a couple fantasy-ish requests in the exchanges. 83

I take people's art styles and requests into consideration when I match people up-- if someone prefers to draw fantasy animals, I'm not going to have them draw realistic humans and if someone likes drawing anime people, I won't have them draw futuristic skyscrapers. I try my hardest to give people requests they'll have fun drawing. 83

A certain part of it is proving more complicated than I'd hoped, and I have no decent colouring pens (yay moving into student house for leaving important stuff behind...) but this is just to let you know I am indeed working on it. ;D

Well, it looks like the earliest I can hand this thing in now is Saturday, due to ridiculous amounts of stuff happening (4000 words-ish to write plus diagrams and calculations in the next 2 days, lack of own scanner, lack of own colouring pencils, house issues, powercuts etc.)
I will get it done (it is inked and everything, just needs colour), but not quite by even the provisional late deadline!

Theoretically, yeah, uhm... Fenrir said they'd try and get their art in by saturday, so I'm... still trying to figure out what I'm doing. I think I'm going to hold out until the end of the day today and then post handouts either tonight or tomorrow morning whether Fenrir and Alun have turned their art in or not.
(Speaking of which, Alun-- you have your art done, right? Your issue is just with your scanner? In which case, do you have a digital camera/cell phone/webcame/whatever that you could take a sloppy picture of your art with for now, and then you can scan it properly later?)

I've done it, scanned it (though had to do a load of unexpected cleanup because the library scanner put weird blue lines over it, though luckily not over any of the actual drawing) and sent it to Diane!
I blame for my lateness:
~Lack of own colouring pencils
~Lack of own scanner
~Lack of own working computer/internet
~Lack of ability to comprehend the unfathomable concept of time (and deadlines especially).
