Title: Mind your backs girls
Post by: Rock_chick on September 16, 2010, 02:52:22 PM
I had lunch with a friend today and as we were cueing to get our food, one of the waitresses came past with a tray of plates and those were her words. It's still strange to get things like this, especially when I've made absolutely no effort (I had stubble!).

I assume that is your picture in your avatar.

Hon, you look great!  And I love that smile.  Get used to it girl, you're going to be getting comments like that from now on!

You are rather nice looking and have a great smile... But the tittle was a bit disturbing to me...Sorry

But when someone says mind/watch your back where I come from it means to be on the look out because there are less than friendly folks lurking about

Please tell me your okay and it's all good and I'm worrying for nothing

hehe, it's ok Virginia, we were just stood in a queue in a coffee shop and the waitress needed to get past with some plates.

I've yet to pass that well, it seems - but it is nice and a little surprising when fitting room attendants address me as "love"! Likewise - I realised when I faced the changing room mirror that my top lip was a little stubbly. ^^;

Virginia - "mind your back" is a pretty common turn of phrase here when somebody's trying to carry things past. "Watch your back" instead would see me running back home. A curious distinction now that I think about it...
