Does anyone Know about this Michigan Program?
I've read some of the website and really don't get what it is but it sounds pretty useful
Can someone help me out?

It's pretty much the same as U of MN PHS (program in human sexuality) transgender "care" program except Dr Wilson does srs there (at the university hospital) too. one can expect institutional style gatekeeping to be their script.

Hmmm
Thanks Flan :)
so Dr. Wilson does SRS at the University?
I've never heard of him
do you think that this program would be something good to look into
or is regular Gender Therapy better?

Quote from: JoC XoX on September 18, 2010, 05:29:04 PMif insurance covers everything, then I can't see why not, although if you're paying out of pocket, my opinion is to go private (university charges arm+leg for srs, not sure about regular therapy costs, U of MN was $180 a hour iirc).

Thank You FlanKiiittyyy!!!
That helped a lot :)
I've spend all day searching for unresponsive Michigan Gender Therapists and then i saw this UMHS-CGSP thing and I've threw me a curve ball of sorts
I'm thinking I might look into it as my last therapist was a nightmare
I'm pretty sure My insurance might cover it too
I sure hope so anyways

UMICH has had a lot of gender studies for many years. If you ever go looking on the PubMed site for info the UMICH credits are quite common.

oh really now?
Thank you lilacwoman!
I was kind of curious as to how long they've been doing gender studies because I wouldn't feel too comfortable
doing a gender program that was new to UMICH
I feel at ease now that I know :)

Just a quick correction to info previously posted in this thread:
According to their own blogpost site, UM Comprehensive Gender Services Program (CGSP) began in 1993. Although they initially intended to have a research program, little was published after about 2000.
Dr. Wilson does not practice at the University of Michigan, he is based in the Detroit area, and is not affiliated with the UM Comprehensive Gender Services Program.
The surgical team at UM CGSP is led by Dr. William Kuzon.
Check for his profile at the UM hospital site:
http://www.uofmhealth.org/find+a+physician/273
Note that Dr. Kuzon does not seem to have published in the area of transgender medicine, surgery or health.
While some people who have participated in the UM CGSP have had surgical interventions performed by that team, many others have had some or all surgery performed elsewhere.
