How long did you experience swelling in this area?  To me it seems like the last place that is coming down.  I know it's early in my recovery, but the swelling--to me--seems a bit high even though the folks in Montreal say everything looks great and normal.  The swelling around the other areas underneath all appear to be subsiding, albeit unevenly, but definitely subsiding.  I'm seeing more and more detail everyday around the inner and outer labia and am fortunate to be maintaining the same depth with little if any blood.  It's just the mons that I'm concerned about. 

Think in terms of several weeks if not months before it is fully gone although it will probably be mostly gone a fair bit sooner.

Even for my revision it took the best part of a month before it was properly gone. I also had a horrible deep purple haematoma there for about two weeks spreading over almost the entire mons.

Thanks!  Guess I'm just impatient.  I too have a nasty looking clot where my inner labia and clitoris are--this is common with Brassard's technique and will fall off within a couple weeks.  I can't get over the amount of bruising which takes place all around your legs and hips--almost like someone took a bat to me!

Do you have sensitivity of the labia and surrounding area, or is everything numb?

Well it certainly should remain sensitive. Mine did. It was just swollen. If there was loss of sensation then that would indicate a much more serious problem.

There is a bit of numbness with some sensation on one side at the top of the incision line on the mons.  Both labia are fine.

I had my labiaplasty revision, just over three weeks ago, four week this coming Tues....Kristyn

I'm still bleeding a little.... and am swollen still, mainly cause I'm in a Veronique corset post lipo, which is forcing everything downward.... and its crotchless with everything (yep that) on full display, hanging out....lol

My sutures will take weeks to fall/grow out so I'm ready for that.....

And I've been told that spotting can be expected still 6 weeks post op, for some. My own personal view with any surgery is that its at least 3-6 months before you''l get any real take on where you're going to be at...?

(As I'm 52 even more so... lower rate metabolism means slower heal times...)

And a full year before the best affects are solidly moving into place....this is why patience is our most keen ally....

Saying that my new lower torso shape is already fab, I've got my prime figure hip to waist ratio back.... and I'm more pear shaped again....

So the pain for gain risk, for me with coming to AZ's been worth it.....lol. Dr. M is one of the few surgeons that can do multiple body/face procedures to a very high standard.....

But localized red swelling, or if you suddenly develop a high body temp - would indicate more severe infection - so contact a Dr/hospital urgently!

I'm on antibiotics so it can't be an infection.  I have no fever and am very energetic.  They told me all was fine before I left Montreal.  I'll watch it until Monday and if there is any significant change for the worse or none at all, I'll call them.

When one's left the umbilical cord of the clinic....

It's natural to be a little more nervous about what's going on.....your best bet is fellow Dr. B gals.... as they'll have the same basic technique as you....

I'll be in the same boat as you when i fly home next week....

Which is why I'm asking for one more serious Dr pre-flight check/look-over Mon..... :P

From Brassards list of complications, he writes:

Small sensory nerves to the skin surface are occasionally cut when the incision is made.  The sensation in those areas gradually returns within the first year as nerves heal.

Mayby I'll try some light massage around the area.

It was a good 4 or 5 weeks before the swelling subsided completely in the mons area for me. In fact it was last bit where I had any swelling. What you wrote from Dr. Brassard is exactly what happens and it's not unusual. I had the same thing in the skin surrounding my shoulder after I had clavicle surgery, and a year later it was perfectly fine.

I was told that it could be six months before all swelling was gone.  The mons was the last to subside for me, and I think it was close to the three month mark.  (But then I am far older than you, Kristyn. :))

That's ok C--I've got a good sense of humor.  Besides it's really not that bad, I notice the swelling going down day by day.  I keep forgetting that I'm only 11 days post op.

All I can say is two months from now you will look back and smile.  My swelling was all gone by 8 weeks.  Remember the ols saying - "Rome wasn't built in a day".  Please be patient - everything will turn out OK. :)
