Title: is there a website for parents/grandparents of FTM's that explains everything?
Post by: Elijah3291 on September 25, 2010, 04:31:25 PM
I am planning to come out to my step grandparents.  I will be writing them a letter.  See, i need to come out to my biological grandparents, but I KNOW my grandmother won't like it, and My step dad suggested that I come out to his parents as a sort of stepping stone.  I am going to write them a letter explaining everything, and I want to add a website that will explain everything if they want more details, it had to be something through but, not too much information if you know what I mean.  My grandparents don't need to know about packers and strap ons.

There are a few that get a bit cheesey. Here's some stuff I sent my dad though:

Our trans children: http://community.pflag.org/Document.Doc?id=189 (http://community.pflag.org/Document.Doc?id=189)
This is good for how to come out to family and stuff as well as being informative: http://www.pflagcanada.ca/pdfs/trans-myself.pdf (http://www.pflagcanada.ca/pdfs/trans-myself.pdf)

More Pflag stuff, I find that they have a wide variety of information that's geared towards helping friends and family understand so check out their site in general to see what you might specifically need:
http://community.pflag.org/Document.Doc?id=202 (http://community.pflag.org/Document.Doc?id=202)
http://community.pflag.org/Page.aspx?pid=266 (http://community.pflag.org/Page.aspx?pid=266)

There's some overlap in the pamphlets, but I wasn't sure which one you'd want so I just got excited and sent whatever I saw first that looked helpful  :). I also added the Canadian one in there just in case there's a difference in the writing and in case you couldn't access it from your Google (being Canadian, it was one of the first links to show up). So yeah, definitely look around PFLAG, I hope they've got what you're looking for.
