Title: Where is the fat going too?
Post by: Megan on September 26, 2010, 09:35:07 AM
I was looking at my body and my scale, and something just doesn't add up. The scale reads, "185 lbs", but I look thinner than I ever did in a long time... when I was 170 lbs in February. That's actually a few pounds higher than usual so I am going to diet/exercise to lose it.

But where is my weight going too, people are asking if I lost weight (2 guys so far; and some family members). It's not creating breasts nor a bigger butt either, since it's just SPIRO 4 months.

Are you exercising?  Muscle weighs more than fat.

No, but the scale is the same, it's just the appearance of my fat that is going somewhere.

My whole body looks leaner, and I been eating a ton of food now just to take advantage of this situation, but I am not gaining pounds.

It's been difficult keeping from gaining too much weight while I've been on hrt.  However keep in mind that breasts weigh something. Also it seems like my butt has filled out some, at least enough to rip through several pairs of jeans while exercising and doing some squats. Thank goodness no one else was there to witness that. But I'm sure the bigger rear end and breasts accounts for the whatever weight gains I've experienced. I'm sure it's the same for you even if you haven't noticed it yet.

15 lbs is a lot of weight gain. It is probably spread all over. You need to do some serious weight loss to get into the right shape, fat is lighter than muscle and the longer you are on HRT the more muscle will turn to fat, so you should actually be getting lighter. Remember, estrogen lowers the metabolic rate to that of a woman and you need to eat less calories each day just to stay the same.

I have the same thing happening to me. I look thinner than I have in years. People think I am losing weight, but in reality I gained a few pounds or stayed the same. I am assuming that the thinner look is because of muscle loss from HRT, and that fat is just being distributed all over. The net effect is that it keeps my weight the same.

As long as I look decent, I don't care where it goes! :-)

i'm almost as heavy as I've ever been but have a nice shape so I can only think that in fact the weight is a thin layer of fat under my skin exactly like natural females have - I know I had to throw out the last pair of male jeans a few years ago after fat moved onto my hips but I can't beleive there is 14 pounds of fat there alone.

Have you checked your waist? Perhaps it's shrunk, making you look thinner.
