He was just a toddler when he started dressing in girls' clothes.
He was 11 when he told his mom he must be gay. What other word fit his dilemma? He was a boy who thought like a girl, acted like a girl and wanted desperately to be a girl.
"It's not a sex thing," he said, struggling to explain.
Today, after sex-reassignment surgery, Chris Williams is Cristan Williams and a strong, political voice in Houston's transgender community.
