MONTREAL - Two Montreal authors have made the Giller Prize shortlist: Kathleen Winter, for her novel Annabel (published by House of Anansi), and Johanna Skibsrud for her novel The Sentimentalists (published by Gaspereau Press).

Annabel is "a story about a child born intersex in coastal Labrador," Winter explained.
"It's about how the female side of him, the Annabel side, is hidden, even from himself, for many years, until adolescence. And it's about what happens when that feminine side comes to the forefront."
