Title: My friend said my boobs are going to be saggy.
Post by: Devyn on October 14, 2010, 07:24:38 PM
I explained to my only friend that knows I'm trans that I only wear a bra when I'm in the locker room at school and I have to take my shirt off (because taking off my shirt in front of a bunch of girls and having layers of bandages binding down my boobs won't get a positive response and I'll get harrassed) or when I have to wear girls clothes. She told me that my boobs will be saggy. I explained that I wear a tight sports bra to hold my binding in place or it'll slip down to my waist throughout the day. She said if I don't wear regular bras then my boobs will sag.

First, I'm getting tired of her going from accepting of my trans-identity to telling me I should do things like wear a bra.

Second, when she told me my boobs will sag, I told her I don't give a ->-bleeped-<-.

I get this a lot, from my sisters especially. Trying to goad me in to buying some "decent bras" so they don't get saggy.

Why would I give a flying monkey? I plan to chop them off as soon as I can anyway

I know! If I'm planning to get them removed, why should it matter? And I know cisgirls who don't wear bras. I don't think whether somebody wears a bra or not should matter.

Well, yeah, I guess it could make them sag, but why does it matter?  And why should she care anyway?  If someone said something like that to me, I would respond with, "I hope they do sag.  It'll give the surgeon more skin to work with."  Being made to think about that operation might make them wish they hadn't brought it up.

Exactly!
Also, it's not like wearing a bra is going to stop the inevitable. They're going to sag anyway. Accept it and move on. ::)

I actually find mine a little more tolerable now that they've gotten a bit saggy.  They're easier to bind and not as in the way.  So uh.. big deal.

Sag happens when the tissue (ligaments?) holding your chest "up" are stretched. Wearing a bra doesn't prevent sag. Tell her that most people that are FAAB would end up with major sag as they age. Guys also sag...elsewhere. Tell her that one day she'll be with a guy who will wake up and wonder why he's wearing a fuzzy slipper only to realize it's very much NOT a slipper on his foot.

Oh, the visual

I've also heard once you go on T, they start sagging...and that it makes them easier to bind.

I'll confess to never wearing a bra ??? and they're pretty big (not sure what the cup size would be but....trust me they're "decent") and not at ALL saggy. They're actually ridiculously perky (tmi?) and I don't want to sound self-centered, but hey from a straight guy's point of view they're pretty much the best I've seen ::) (LOL not sure if that's saying much). Makes me somewhat guilty I'd like them gone, if they were uglier it wouldn't be such a loss. Conflicting feelings here >:(. Overall, not wearing a bra won't make them saggy (at least from my experience), binding can destroy/break down the tissue and make it a bit saggier, and T might have a saggy effect on them as well.

I've only dressed for Gym class 2 times as a Freshman and I went into the locker rooms and used the stall to change in because I feel exposed when I'm undressing in front of girls for some reason.

Trying to make me put on a bra would be like trying to get the Pope to start a mass orgy.

a few things-

"decent bras" (western bras, worn constantly as is the custom) DO NOT stop tits from getting saggy in any way, and in fact encourage sagging AND BREAST CANCER by preventing the breast tissue from supporting itself naturally while upsetting the natural movement of fluids as it shapes and compresses the breast.

Binding makes them sag, yes, but why would a man want round perky breasts? Try asking them that.

Yeah binding definately makes them sag, I have noticed the difference in mine after binding for a year.  They bind a lot easier now than they did at the start, so I see it as a positive thing!

Like Nygeel said, bras do not prevent sagging. This is a cultural myth. There is actually some evidence that they contribute to sagging, though not nearly as much as age does.

This must vary depending on the individual and their breasts.  Mine sagged a lot during the year or two in which I didn't wear a bra.  In the 10 years since, they haven't sagged any further.  Mine are large and heavy, and I have to wear bras that are well-designed to provide support (otherwise, the beasts escape).  So, in my own experience, bras don't contribute to sagging, but going braless does.  But I'm sure it's different for everyone.

mine haven't sagged from binding but then i usually don't bind when at home. i have a friend who is small-chested like me but hers are really saggy....and i would say never wearing a bra caused that because she had saggy small boobs at 22 and i do consider that unusual, since mine are the same size and still perky at 27. by the way i used to wear bra + sports bra on top for many years and that didn't change my tissue at all. when i bind constantly for a week (day and night), they will feel softer, but change back to normal within a day  :o

Tell her that she's jealous.

I almost never wear a bra now, unless I'm going to school.  I've noticed that I've got stretch marks on my breasts because my breasts are pretty heavy and the skin has stretched a little bit.

Not sagging as such. It depends on the size. T and binding both break down the breast tissue, making the breasts... emptier somehow. It's hard to describe, but definitely makes them easier to bind :)

I have owned only one 'real bra' (underwire and cups) and I wore it maybe 5 times.

Other then that I used to wear sports, or training bras, now I just bind

If someone told me my boobs would get saggy I would probably tell them something along the lines of..

"oh good, I love dem saggy boobehs" or "I don't give a ->-bleeped-<-" or "I don't care if they turn purple, I dont want them anyway, they are a temporary disgusting body deformation that I plan to have removed soon"

Breast cancer rate is highest in countries where the custom is to wear a bra most or all of the time. I keep seeing this pattern.

Here's some relevant studies
http://www.all-natural.com/bras.html (http://www.all-natural.com/bras.html)
http://www.007b.com/bras_breast_cancer.php (http://www.007b.com/bras_breast_cancer.php)

But the NY times says I'm wrong

However I really don't want to take any chances when I'm already at high risk for most types of cancer if family history is any judge. If the SOBs come off no more worries though.

If you're high risk for breast cancer and you actually have the "cancer gene" then you should be able to have a mastectomy especially for that purpose. I don't really know how the US works, but I'm assuming that this way you could get it on insurance?
Just a thought :)

Well, I would like that, but then husband issues come in. He wants me to replace with implants because he loves titties, and that would probably give me crippling depression. So we're currently arguing about that.
