Have you tried an epilator? Hurts like hell at first, but once you get used to it, no need to shave as often. It was a godsend for me because I hated shaving every other day. To start, I epilated as much as I could stand, then shaved. Waited for the shaved hairs to grow out, epilated as much as I could and shaved again. Just kept repeating that until I was epilating everything.

@ superkitty. I totally feel the same way about getting waxed, and I agree with Melody on epilating. Shaving never lasted long enough, and my formerly gorilla-esque legs always returned to their former state too quickly  ::). With an epilator, at least you don't need to spend so much money on disposable razors, or getting waxed. Sure, pain might be an issue, but hey, we put ourselves through a lot of necessary pain during transition like electrolysis. No pain, no gain! An investment in a good epilator is an investment in your future  ;).

I have had my legs waxed before and loved it.  I shave them now, but I am looking into getting an epilator.

Freshly shaven legs.... Greatest thing ever. When I do it, I purposely wear skirts or at least shorts just so I can enjoy it for the brief day that it stays smooth.

The epilator is the only way. The first time it is a bit painful but it gets easier and easier.

Epilated legs stay smooth for ages and over time the hairs get lighter.

Mmm throw in another point of view,
Wax. wax at least three times. Oh make sure you are short haired or rather not hairy, I was a few cms, needing a shave but enough for the wax to take. Long hair would be hell. The more you wax the less hair. Dreamy.

Have you tried the wax strips you can buy at the supermarket?  That would give you an idea whether it will be successful for you.

I have never had lucki using them... i mean yeah they DEFINITLY pull some friggen hair but I want the HOT stuff (wax)  one of these days im just going to say screw it and go. I do that a lot. When I get to feeling shy or self concious I will pick a place that I would normally not EVER have the, balls just seems like an oxymoron, but yeah balls and i will bless the people there with my presence

I don't have a lot of experience with wax strips, but I bought a brand called Nads my first go and they work fantastically.  The wax is on some special paper that you rub between your palms to heat up, it doesn't get as hot as wax at a professional salon, but it's pretty toasty.  Edit: it isn't just the heat from your palms that does it, they get warm from the friction.  I felt like this part sounded unclear.  The facial ones were a bit of a wash; my hair won't grow long enough to work for that in any period of time (I gave it a week and a half, and then just gave up.)  Legs+tummy worked beautifully though, and it was almost completely painless.  Less pain than a bee sting, and only for 3 seconds tops.

Dang it. This talk about smooth and sexy got me digging through and finding my epilady. 18 years old and it still drags the hair out by the roots!

Ahhhh the pain. Me thinks a glass of wine first....  :)

I feel the same.

I'm, sadly, really hairy. But I've always figured that, if I leave it, at least it's protecting the skin underneith.

When I do, occasionally remove some of it, the skin is so soft and sensitive. There's a bit on my face, where is grows near my lower lip. That needs to be taken off because it's uncomfortable. I generally spend the next 24 hours touching it.

A home waxing machine, with the roll-on cartridges works best for me.  The roll-on is way faster than other waxing methods (or Nads), and way less painful than an epilator.  You can get the machines and refills at Sally Beauty.

I go a step beyond and shave the whole body, OMG, it feels heavenly especially in the shower, right after, drives all my senses of the charts, just feels so fresh and pure and now with all the hormones at work skin is so smooth and soft.

Haven't heard of this, I'll check the web site but how does it work?

The cartridge heats up in the big unit, then rolls wax onto your legs.  Stick a strip to it and rip.  I use two machines at once, alternating rollers, so the wax stays at the right heat.
